*THE VAMPIRE *

I’ve been seeing allot of CC’ s lately and wanted to add my own take on a few. First up, the Vampire. I like to keep them simple and slim, almost suited for WoDu. Thoughts?

The Vampire

Blood Drinker

When you drink the blood of a living creature, hold 2 BLOOD (may not exceed 2). You deal additional damage equal to your BLOOD.

Spend BLOOD to do the following, 1 for 1.

-> The blood rushes through your veins and you can feel its life renew you. Heal for 1d4 hp.

-‎> You satisfy a hunger, unmark a box under The Hunger.

-‎> Peer into the victim’s memories. Ask the GM a question the character would know, the GM will give you an honest answer.

Creature of the Night

As a creature of night, the sunlight causes you harm. You must Defy Danger when ever you are exposed to the sun’s rays.

On Blood, Sustained

You do not need to consume food. When ever you would normally consume a ration, instead spend BLOOD. If you have none left, mark a box under The Hunger.

The Hunger

Cursed with the need for blood from the living, you have an insatiable hunger and overwhelming desire to feed on them. When hunger strikes, mark a box.

[ ] The need for sustenance can be debilitating at times. Mark a debility.

[ ] Fragile and slow, you deal -1d4 damage.

[ ] You can’t hardly hold yourself up. Your load becomes 2.

When you would mark a box, and all boxes are marked, instead your hunger overwhelms you and you go on an all out feeding frenzy, killing everything alive and vulnerable. You wake up a few hours later, and so long as you fed on your kill during the frenzy, with 4 BLOOD held and all hungers satisfied.

P.S.

Ideas came from the post below. A much more detailed CC.

Here’s a Necromancer Compendium class I created for one of the players in my current campaign.

Notes:

He’s playing a Human Wizard and took Animate Dead as his Cleric Spell.

I have already discussed the trigger and Practiced Animation with him.

Fadyn (tricksy fox spirit)

Fadyn (tricksy fox spirit)

Fadyn (tricksy fox spirit)

solitary, small, magical, spirit, stealthy, devious, intelligent, cautious

HP 12, Armor 1 (reflexes)

Bite, scratches, knife (d6, hand)

● Appear as a fox, or as a pretty youth

● Follow and watch, glimpsed only rarely

● Play tricks on someone’s senses

● Ensnare someone in a pocket dimension

Instinct: to sate its curiosity

There are many dangers to those who travel the Flats. Hunting drakes. The nosgolau that lure the weak-willed from the Roads. Great gwythaints circling above and swooping down like thunder. All deadly. All to be feared.

But fear also the fox that follows you for miles on end. Fear the laughter of the beautify boy, glimpsed in tall grass. Fear what you see and hear. For the fadyn does not mean you harm, it merely finds you interesting, and wants to know what you will do. The magic of the Roads will not protect you. You’ll need all your wits for that.

So this was my first true session of a campaign of Dungeon World (really my first session of an RPG, since all the other games I have run have been really crappy one-shots (crappiness was my fault)), so I would appreciate any feedback. I’m pretty sure I messed up in a number of different places, so don’t kill me in the comments. I’m just writing this for and for you guys to get better in your critiquing skills I guess. I think the PC’s did a great job ojn creating the world and the map.

*And by the way, this play doesn’t have rolls, I forgot to tell the person who was keeping notes to record what the rolls were and their outcomes.

So I was thinking recently, what kind of characters are just not represented very much in our beloved RPGs?

So I was thinking recently, what kind of characters are just not represented very much in our beloved RPGs? And one thing stuck out like a sore thumb – The Mission Control Team. The ace hacker, the voice in the ear and the eye in the sky. It was obvious why, not being with the party is a huge pain for both the player and the GM, not to mention issues with HP and combat.

But it seemed like such a cool idea, I had to take a crack at it, and so I present, The Handler!

Present with the party only via an incorporeal projection, the Handler is permanently affixed to another PC, sharing their HP and working with them in a sort of symbiotic relationship, while providing remote support to the team, doing research, “hacking” enemies and magical systems and so on. I intentionally made it so you could play this as either a mage or a more technologically inclined character too.

Probably the weirdest playbook I’ll ever write, I’m really proud of this. Hope you all enjoy it!

I’m hoping some of you could help me out.

I’m hoping some of you could help me out. When you introduce a special item or an object/location with a custom move, how much do you reveal vs make them “figure it out”?

Take for example a shrine with a custom move. When they come across it, do you tell the players if they do such and such and roll this will happen? Do you make them guess? Spout Lore? DR?

I am really enjoying the new Dungeon World actual play podcast, We Hunt the Keepers (http://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/we-hunt-the-keepers), from Jason Cordova and the Gauntlet podcast crew. I like that it takes the story seriously without being joyless. Everyone is obviously having fun, but it isn’t devolving into a nonsensical jokefest.

Are there any other good Dungeon World podcasts out there that take a similar tone? I am interested in podcasts where you can get caught up in the shared story that is taking place.

A Defiling move for Dark Sun:

A Defiling move for Dark Sun:

A Defiling move for Dark Sun:

Add up to half the spell’s level to your Cast a Spell roll. Defile an area, in a radius equal to the level of the spell, of plants and small creatures (insects, small lizards and birds, etc).

Double this area to defile only plant matter if present.

Halve this area to defile only higher order creatures and people if present; the latter, including you, take total damage equal to your adjusted roll (allocated as you desire). You may choose to take no damage from this move but each other creature or person that takes damage in this way must suffer at least 1 point.

Thoughts?
