So I was thinking recently, what kind of characters are just not represented very much in our beloved RPGs? And one thing stuck out like a sore thumb – The Mission Control Team. The ace hacker, the voice in the ear and the eye in the sky. It was obvious why, not being with the party is a huge pain for both the player and the GM, not to mention issues with HP and combat.

But it seemed like such a cool idea, I had to take a crack at it, and so I present, The Handler!

Present with the party only via an incorporeal projection, the Handler is permanently affixed to another PC, sharing their HP and working with them in a sort of symbiotic relationship, while providing remote support to the team, doing research, “hacking” enemies and magical systems and so on. I intentionally made it so you could play this as either a mage or a more technologically inclined character too.

Probably the weirdest playbook I’ll ever write, I’m really proud of this. Hope you all enjoy it!

  1. Mathor Sionur That’s unfortunate, could you send me a screenshot of what you mean? I’m looking now and I see 2 missing apostrophes but no formatting issues.

  2. Liam Ginty actually it’s not really formating it’s just that the advanced move Advanced appilcation analysis saysthat it requires application analysis, which is a starting move that you automatically get

  3. Mathor Sionur That would be awesome! I considered some kind of drone power myself but wanted to focus on other aspects, I’d love to see something like that!
