In the interest of making the Fighter and Thief as fun/interesting to play as the Cleric and Magic-User, I’m rethinking their moves. Here’s a new draft of the Fighter; opinions wanted.

Ben Milton, Ben George, and Antoine Pempie, I’ve uploaded an alternate pdf of Freebooters with “don’t be a dick” removed and “chaste,””lewd,” and “lustful” replaced on the Vice/Virtue tables. You can find it in the backer access folder with “kidfriendly” in its title.

These changes will be in this alternate version of the pdf only — the basic Freebooters pdf and the eventual print version will retain the original wording.

Let me know if you encounter any other problems, and I’ll do my best to address them!

Matt Horam brings up the point that the DW Encumbrance move has some awkward wording, and has requested the wording be changed in the moves summary in Perilous Wilds Survival Kit.

Here’s what it says now:

———-

Encumbrance

When you make a move while carrying weight, you may be encumbered. If your weight carried is…

… equal to or less than your load, you suffer no penalty.

… less than or equal to your load+2, you take -1 ongoing until you lighten your burden.

… greater than your load+2, drop at least 1 weight and roll at -1, or automatically fail.

———-

Matt has requested that the second option—”… less than or equal to your load+2, you take -1 ongoing until you lighten your burden”—be changed to something like, “… exceeds your load by 1 or 2, you take -1 ongoing until you lighten your burden.”

Reading the original move, though, it seems clear that all three options are worded for consistency (“equal to or less than,” “less than or equal to,” “greater than”). So what about:

———-

Encumbrance

When you make a move while carrying weight, you may be encumbered. If your weight carried…

… does not exceed your load, you suffer no penalty.

… exceeds your load by 1 or 2, you take -1 ongoing until you lighten your burden.

… exceeds your load by 3 or more, drop at least 1 weight and roll at -1, or automatically fail.

I’m sorting out the rewards and stretch goals for the Perilous Journeys Kickstarter (which is imminent, eek), and I can’t decide to list all of the stretch goals up front or reveal them as the campaign progresses. Anyone like or dislike either approach?

Asking here because I don’t know where else to ask, and no help is to be found via repeated Google searches.

I’m putting together a Kickstarter campaign (for a DW project) on the KS site, and I can’t move images around within the “Story” edit box. When I upload, they always show up at the top of the box (regardless of where the cursor is), and though they appear draggable they do not drag. I haven’t had this problem previously.

Anyone have a clue, or maybe point me at a good KS troubleshooting forum?

Apologies for my off-topic-ness!

Hi folks —

Hi folks —

Hi folks —

I’m ramping up for the launch of the Perilous Journeys Kickstarter campaign in a couple of weeks, putting all of my stretch goals in a row, and wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Here’s what I have so far:

BASE GOAL: Perilous Journeys, a 72-page, digest-size softcover book/pdf.

STRETCH #1: PJ Survival Kit, a pdf of reference sheets and blank records for NPCs, Monsters, Regions, Steadings, Dungeons, etc.

STRETCH #2: Perilous Almanacs, a 24-page sampler of regional almanacs written by members of the DW and comics communities.

STRETCH #3: Freebooters on the Frontier (Aka “Advanced Funnel World”), my fantasy heartbreaker that attempts to merge old school, sandbox, treasure-hunting D&D with Dungeon World. 24 pages, digest size, print and pdf.

So far these rewards are all useful tools, and I want to keep it that way (i.e., no fluff). I may have enough here to do the job — and I certainly don’t want to create too much extra work for myself — but I would love to hear suggestions if anybody has them.

I’d also love to hear what people think would make good upper-tier rewards. Right now I’m planning on things like signed copies, adding backer-chosen names to the Vancian spell generator, and hand-drawn maps based on backer home game campaigns.

A couple of compendium classes for Perilous Journeys.
