Attempting to chronicle our current playtest campaign of Freebooters. We’re using all of the moves and tools in The Perilous Wilds for the wilderness exploration and dungeon bits. This first post is just about the setting creation.

  1. So to be clear, Freebooting on the Frontier includes revised or ‘replacement’ module and classes and swettings. While The Perilous Wilds provides the revised basic moves along with rules and resources for on-the-fly world creation. Correct?

  2. Harrison s, basically yes. The way I think of it is that The Perilous Wilds is a supplement for the DW core rules, and Freebooters is a DW hack that makes use of the PW rules. PW replaces and adds some stuff, but also includes guidelines for collaborative world-building, new compendium classes, and resources for encounter generation.

  3. Jason Lutes  Thanks for making that distinction clear for me. Either way, I want to get the completed version once it’s out. How much do you think it’s gonna cost me?

  4. Harrison s, I have not settled on a price yet, but the PDFs will run something like $8 for The Perilous Wilds and around $5 for Freebooters.
