I wrote before that I would make World of Dungeons versions of the #Stonetop classes and bow I have. I gave most of the classes a slightly different wording of their “Skill” to differentiate such classes as the original thief and the stonetop Fox. For abilities, I chose four moves from each playbook that are simple and work well with the simple game. I believe that these slimmed down classes will allow people to play their stonetop classes and games but in a much simpler, lighter fashion. Parentheses are skills and abilities come after.

Heavy(brawn) muscle-bound, payback, relentless, frosty, made of wood.

Fox(trickery) sneaky, on the move, perfect instincts, nothing up my sleeves.

Marshall(leadership) shield wall, battlefield grace, setup strike, we happy few.

Ranger(woodcraft) on the hoof, big game hunter, camouflage, constant vigilance.

The Blessed(awareness) wild speech, herbalist, heedless stride, into the lions den.

Lightbearer(invigorate) lamplighter, inner fire, light more light, light a candle against the dark.

Judge(interpret) breaking of the bread, mighty rampart, censure, many hands make light work.

Seeker(arcane secrets) everything bleeds, magpie, sage advice, readied action, polyglot.

The would be hero(hide) better part of valor, never going to keep me down, underestimated, inquiring minds.

Some stats may need to be halved in the damage or damage reduction department but apart from that I think this works. Hope people like and enjoy these. #DungeonWorld #WorldofDungeons

This horn has been in the family for a while. Here are some ideas I have for it.

“When you blow a long, loud, sonorous note in this horn, you get everyone’s attention for a great distance, good or evil. On a 10+ a drowned man or beast will arise and fight for you till cut down. 7 same but it’s either weak or harms you and enemies. 6- and a drowned creature or spirit rises to stop your aggravating din.

Welcome to other ideas or thoughts.

Do here’s a question for all of you.

Do here’s a question for all of you.

Do here’s a question for all of you. Do you ever mess around with the starting gear of players to suit the setting or a custom character? I prefer all means of healing, including potions, to be rare and special to give the setting more of an epic flavor and less of a videogame one. I also like to switch out bard weapons like rapier for something more like a quarterstaff cause I have a more ancient bard in mind like Homer or gabrielle or a skald. I don’t think it would imbkance the game if there was more flexibility in choosing what goes onto your gear or weapon/armor slots such as more food/coins and less potions. Finaly, could a character trade one or maybe two slots of gear for a secondary weapon like a chakram or shiv or sai? Maybe swapping out the shield would be better.

So I’m a big Xena fan I watched all the episodes and the Hercules show Xena trilogy of eps. It has really influenced my view of RPGs with its its Grecian take on sword and sorcery. I think it really fits dungeon world with all the gods and demons and heroic and villainous characters on quests and adventures. I would like to make a better more realistic bard class for bards like Gabrielle (I think she took many fighter moves when multiclassing). As well as some hacks and specialized moves and items. If anyone knows of people who have already done this or similar please let me know thank you. Xenite forever! Woo!

Ive watched princess bride the movie and am now reading the book. When they mentioned miracle men I thought of a game move. What do y’all u think?

When you ask for a miracle man’s help roll 2d6.

10+ = solution with little or no cost or side effect

7-9 = solution with one flaw or big cost

6- = at least one major cost, long wait, and bad side effect.

Ive been play testing dungeon world for a while and I’ve been thinking has anyone else felt that the amounts of XP needed to get to higher levels is too little? The amount of levels is fine but I have felt there to be a need of slightly more xp to the point where I have house ruled that the amount of XP required for each level is 20 plus the next level your ascending to. I chose the 20 as I was inspired by old school d20 but I suppose a 12 from 2d6 would be more fitting for DW. I know that xp gets harder to get as you level, but I like long term rpg storylines and I like characters to take it slow and enjoy utilizing the basic moves they have so each new move is special and appreciated and well earned. Has a home else fooled around with XP? Please tell your opinions or stories.

I hope this is the right category for suggestions for inspiration if not please correct me thx.

Anyway I found that two books by William Morris called “A tale of the house of the Wolfings and all kindreds of the mark.”. And ” Of the roots of the mountains.” These books were published 1889 and 1890 respectively and therefore are some of the oldest fantasy ever written. If you want two great stories, as well as some great inspiration for old school pre Tolkien fantasy, these are the books for you. They also have a feel very much like stonetop and have a lot of archaic words and poetry as well as a hauberk that behaves alot like a stonetop magic item. Questions about books and thoughts if you’ve already read them are much welcome!

I’m already working in this but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a project I’m working on. It’s an attempt to make a world if dungeons back for stonetop. So basically all the really simple classes and rules of w.O.d. in the stonetop setting. I love lots of rules and moves which really expand the world but when I want to play with my younger siblings and want to set up a game in the setting with as little hassle as possible(plus printer ink for character sheets is expensive). I think it would bring a new and interesting feel to the campaign world. So what are your thoughts on this hack idea?

So I’m posting because I have a question.

So I’m posting because I have a question. I love the the idea of making killing and injury difficult in my games because I want it to reflect real life where decent people don’t easily murder people to solve problems because its difficult and squeamish. But if you have a good damage dice and numbers its problem solver number 1. I want characters to be more like Bilbo in the hobbit or Gabrielle from Xena warrior princess or Aang and friends from Avatar the last airbender( who killed almost never and Aang not ever never). So any advice such as penalties, special moves, or hard GM moves or world building would be much appreciated thank you.

So here are some means I use to make the revolutionary but overpowered MAGE class playable ( I mean seriously, unchecked it takes over nearly every other classes job, rivaling nearly everything except maybe the fighter, because at minus 1 he can do literally anything except three banned tags.). But here they are.

1. Have the player only cast spells that fit into what they specialize in. To compensate, you could let the player pick two fields of expertise such as both stars and winter at level one to balance it out. I also noticed gandalf is like this, specializing in fire/lights and healing. This I think is a simple fix to a big problem.

2. Is you want to have more costly magic, you could put an xp cost on each spell casting (I prefer to use this method instead of the vancian spells per day in the wizard and cleric class to make it more free form but limited. )Here is how a move would work. Roll 2d6 plus stat. 10+ means that spell only costs 1 xp. 7-9 means 2 xp. And 6- means you gain 1 xp as standard but bad stuff happens. Overall I think this makes play and magic use more organic and allows the mage to fill a very powerful flashy but balanced with other classes niche. My sister plays a winter and stars mage with both above methods in play and is happy with how the system works. How do you handle the mage if at all?
