Mar-Tha gathers the forbidden ingredients and makes the secret recipe!

Cast:

Mar-Tha

Magical, Solitary, Devious, Intellegent

Special Qualities: power over foodstuffs

12 HP

Ladle of Scalding  b2d10, Near, Far

Instinct: Learn all the secret recipes of Chefcromancy

A simple cook, Mar-Tha was attacked by a Mind Filleter and driven insane. Now she seeks to expand her power beyond the kitchen. Using secret recipes and forbidden herbs and spices she cooks up trouble for our heroes!

– Control/animate food

– Speak a groan inducing pun

– Lure with a delicious aroma

Ginger Bread Golems

Group, Organized, Small

Special Qualities: Baked Construct, vulnerable to dunking

6hp

Instinct: Obey the chefcromancer that created them

Armor 1, Bite/pommel 1d8, close

These flaky, golden delicious abominations are usually made in groups of 13, a deadly dozen as they are called. They “rise” to the size of halflings, hopping about with a suprising agility that their crusty forms belie.

– Coordinate an attack

– Leave a trail of crumbs

– Run too fast to be caught

Oven of the Toe-Star

This strange metal box seems to radiate heat as it’s metal filaments glow. Any edible substance that is put in the Oven is transformed after 60 seconds into a small pastry with frosting and delicious fruit filling, essentially making it a source of unlimited rations. A skilled Chefcromancer can also use this device to create more powerful creations, boosting their already formidable powers.

New Steading Tags

I know there has been whole pages of new tags for equipment but here are a few for Steadings you might want to use while making your own.

Technology: Advanced – Something about the steading’s technology is more advanced than would be considered normal for the setting and is noticeable to visitors. This advanced technology may or may not be for sale to outsiders.

Technology: Primitive – Whether by accident, ignorance or scarcity of resources, this steading’s wares and services are below average by the standards of the setting.

Hive – This steading is a hive. It is built primarily for and by members of an insectile race and is best suited to their needs and abilities. Lodgings and services for humanoid races may or may not exist but will most certainly be at a premium, expect to pay more than average for such things.

Mobile – This steading has no fixed location. Whether a flotilla of rafts and ships or a cloud city, this steading does not stay put. It may or may not have a fixed route or pattern of movement and getting into and out of the steading will provide unique challenges as well.

Quarantined – This steading has by choice or by force has quarantined itself and a black flag flies over it’s roof tops. Entrance and exit is strictly forbidden until the state of quarantine has been lifted.

Blockaded/Besieged – Entry to and exit from this steading is being strictly controlled by two or more opposing military forces.

When you use all your might to stop the walls from closing in…roll+STR

When you use all your might to stop the walls from closing in…roll+STR

On a 10+ It takes all you’ve got to make them grind to a stop…

On a 7-9 It takes all you’ve got to slow them down…

Was thinking of a move for the classic wall crushing trap.

A fighter would use bend bars/lift gates, but not every party has a fighter.

I like Roll 20 but find the map making and drawing tools that come with it severely lacking (no eraser!?! Really?).

Twiddla is very simple and easy to use and can be shared with others, check it out.

Ray of Enfeeblement

Ray of Enfeeblement

Ray of Enfeeblement

Was going over the idea for converting this spell to DW. Was thinking it would knock the damage die down a step, like B2d10 would become simply d10, d10 would become W2d10, W2d10 would step down a dice and become d8.

Would only apply to creatures who damaged via physical strength, not magical or supernatural attacks.

Seems too mechanical for the fiction first attitude of DW, any ideas? What do you think?

The Puzzle Parish

The Puzzle Parish

The Puzzle Parish

It was ancient maze inhabited by The Minotaur’s descendants when the city of Dis began to devour it. When the the inhabitants of Dis began to creep in to settle and explore the maze the minotaurs at first were taken aback. Their experience with outsiders was limited to “adventurers” who sought only to slay them, so when the birdfolk of The Aviary Parish and the strange being known only as The Architects began to offer them work and other opportunities, they did the unthinkable. They unionized!

Now, minotaur rickshaw drivers are a staple in every parish of Dis and often the cheapest and fastest way to get around. They are still the only ones who can navigate the puzzle parish successfully and can always be found on it’s outskirts looking for fares.

-Momma expands her interests!

-Momma takes over territory, the Wharf, the Ratrun the Red Lantern District!

-Momma offs the old Bosses one by one!

Impending Doom: Momma runs this city!

Cast:

MOMMA

Solitary, Terrifying

Special Qualities: The most unpleasant halfling you’ve ever met.

10 HP 1 Armor

Cleaver: 1d8+2, messy

Instinct: Take what she wants by force.

Some say she was a cook on a pirate ship and is using treasure to fund her organization. Other say she was in prison for years and built a network of criminal contacts. Either way she’s here so deal with it. Intent on taking over the crime syndicates she’s proven herself to be merciless when taking the things she wants. So get with the program or get out of her way!

Moves:

-Holler for the boys

-Make a brutal plan and see it through

-Expand her empire

MOMMA’S BOYS

Group, Organized

Special Qualities: Daper

6 HP

Knives (messy) d6

Instinct:Do what Momma tells them.

Momma likes her boys to look their best, she also likes to rub her success in everyone face so her Boys are easy to recognize, dressed in their fine new expensive clothes. Don’t let the polished exterior fool you, they Boys will gut you like a fish if Momma gives the word.

Moves:

-Outnumber and overpower

-Keep an eye out

-Spend their money like big time high rollers

Moves:

When you work your contacts for info about Momma roll+CHA. On a 10 you get some useful info about one of her schemes. On a 7-9 You get your info but pick one:

-It costs you some coin

-You owe someone a favor

-You find out something about Momma and she finds out something about you.

When you follow one of Momma’s Boys back to a hideout and try not to be spotted roll+DEX. On a 10, they never saw you. On a 7-9 you find the hideout, but the Boys get suspicious.

Take Watch concerns

Take Watch concerns

Take Watch concerns

Sometimes the wizard/cleric/whoever needs to reset/recover/rest/recharge/whatever for just an hour. Often times they will want to do this in the middle of a dangerous area, like a dungeon. I don’t like to use the Take Watch move because it assumes the outcome, i.e. if you are using the move a it’s because something IS approaching you are just determining the party’s ability to react to it. Take Watch, to me, always seemed like a move I’d ask the players to do if they failed a PJ roll and I wanted to attack the camp at night with the local fauna. It’s not really written to be initiated by the players, at least the way I read it.

I was thinking about something like an “On Guard” move for when your players take a rest in a dangerous area but not make a full Make Camp move.

ON GUARD

When you keep an eye out while someone rests or recovers roll+number of other players (not companions hirelings or other NPCs) who are assisting you with the watch to a maximum of three. On a 10+ you are able to rest and remain undetected. On a 7-9 you encounter something you’ll have to deal with or be discovered.
