Dagger of the Soulwarden

When you use this dagger to ease someones way into the afterlife, roll +nothing

On 10+ hold 2, on 7-9 hold 1. Spend any one hold for

* Know what tried to end this creatures life

* Know one string of fate that has been cut now

* Know the last thoughts of this creature

* Know this creatures last quest or geas

Regardless of your roll or the choices you make this soul will pass safely into the afterlife. The dagger can not be used on creatures unwilling to die.

The picture is not mine and here for fictions sake.

Beluga, Last Gift of the Star Whales

Beluga, Last Gift of the Star Whales

Beluga, Last Gift of the Star Whales

Near, Forceful, 3 Ammo

As you grasp this wondrous weapon of brass and bone, you can hear the haunting, boreal song of the star whales in the back of your mind. The song grows louder as you take aim…

When you roll for a move which utilizes the Beluga, you may select up to three of the following options. On a 10+, all that you say is true. On a 7-9, the GM will select one to be false, the rest are true.

Tell us, o muse…

…What emotion is inspired in one witness of your choosing.

…What memory of theirs the star whales allow you to share.

…How the ocean of stars is reflected in the world around you.

…What change the star whales enact upon you in their desire to return to this world.

Shield of the Avatar

The surface of this shield appears to be an intricate, shifting flow of four different elements.

When you use this shield to redirect an elemental attack, roll+CON.  *On a 10+, the attack hits a new target of your choice.  On a 7-9, you take half the effect and redirect half.  On a miss, your concentration is disrupted and you are unable to control the energy.

The blade itself looks totally normal, but crossguard and grip tell a different story. Trough a round small glass panel in between hilt and crossguard you can see a multitude of small gears and counterweights, in motion and making clicking, whizzing sounds whenever you move the blade.

When you spend time winding the sword’s gears, roll +nothing. On a 10+, gain 3 torsion and on a 7-9, gain 1 torsion. Spend 1 torsion to give the sword either the precise or the forceful tag for your next strike. Spend 2 torsion to throw the sword with Volley.

I would have imagined the mechanisms much more concealed though, as you see from my description!

The Aegis

The Aegis

The Aegis

+ 1 Armour, +1 Weight

This shield is a work of art. The interior face is inscribed with the legend OCULUS GORGON. When OCULUS GORGON is invoked, the shield transforms into an image of a snarling gorgon’s visage. It is awful to behold.

– +1 to any Defy Danger rolls when the Aegis is used to defy danger, on a failure the Aegis is destroyed, but the danger does not come to pass.

– When the Gorgon is invoked, roll+CHA. On 10+, the wielder causes fear in his enemies. (They flee, fight, panic, or beg. Wielder’s choice.)

– On a 7-9, as above but the GM’s choice.

– On a 6 or less, the magic turns against the wielder. The wielder becomes the target of choice of any enemy and the OCULUS GORGON refused to be invoked until the spirit is appeased.

The party rescues a demon from captivity.  In “gratitude”, he enchants one of their weapons (by impaling one of his imps on it, then using the imp’s lifeforce to power the enchantment).  The weapon now slowly drips blood when drawn, and has a move associated with it.

I’m trying to decide on what the move should be – I want it to be something double-edged, to reflect the questionable source of the enchantment.  Some ideas:

When you draw blood with this blade, deal +1 damage, but take 1 damage in return (ignoring armor).

When you let this blade taste your blood, hold 1.  When you deal damage with it, you can choose to spend your hold to deal +1d6 damage but take 1d4 damage (ignoring armor) in return.

Looking for some advice for magic items in a low magic setting. The setting is basically a fantasy version of England circa 400AD right after the Roman pullout.

My PCs have just defeated an ancient evil – a member of the pre-human Old Ones (a kind of mishmash between a bipedal cat, the Irish Formorian, and the Fair Folk). This Old One was a body jumper that possessed townsfolk and forced them to murder one another.

After nasty, knock down, drag out fight, my PCs were able to kill it and harvest its giant claws. Now what do they get?
