Hey guys, I need some help.

Hey guys, I need some help. I want to write some love letters to two of my players who haven’t been able to make the last couple of sessions in an Eberron campaign I’m running, but I’m not really sure how to do it.

The first player is a Drow Grave Knight who recently acquired Ogra-Naath (the opposite of the uber-Paladin sword from the book) and I’m thinking I want to tempt him to do evil things. I want to give sort of a Stormbringer vibe to the blade, so what if I gave him a list of awful things to do for XP, and each one he filled he would check a countdown box. When the box is filled, he’s Evil (he’s Lawful now).

The other (a Shifter Fighter) hasn’t been able to make it since another’s character died (they were each other’s only friends) and so I want to do something about how he got over that loss. Perhaps he also gains a level (he’s 2 or 3 behind the rest of the party) and ask what adventure he went on to gain the XP?

So, any feedback would be helpful, as I’ve never written anything like this before. Thanks!

Brandon Schmelz Jacob Randolph is it alright if I use the Captain in my Eberron supplement? Also, how is it licensed?

When you learn the secrets of blending sword and spell, you can take this move when you level up:

Arcane Swordsman

You have a new stat called ARCANA, which looks like this:

SWORD: +1-0-+1 :SPELL

When you roll a 10+ to hack and slash, you have +1 Spell Forward. When you roll a 10+ to cast a spell, you have +1 Sword Forward.

When you are an arcane swordsman, the following count as class moves; you can take them when you level up:

Mage Armor

When you roll a 10+ to cast a spell in battle, you can treat it as a 7-9 to conjure a suit of magical armor around you until the end of the battle. The armor is 0 weight, +INT armor, and gives a +1 to defy danger against magical effects.

War Wizard

Choose a number of spells you know equal to your INT. Work with the GM to give them an additional capability suitable for battle; for example, maybe alarm stuns whatever crossed the circle for a few valuable seconds, or minor damage doesn’t break the effects of charm person.

Spellsword

You can channel a damaging spell into your weapon, treating the spell as ongoing (-1 Ongoing to cast a spell) but dealing +1d4 damage while stored. In addition, any applicable effects of the weapon (holy, wreathed in flames, etc.) influence the spell when cast; icy magic missiles, for example.

Carnage-Fueled

Battlefields after a bloody conflict always count as places of power for you to perform rituals.

CHANGELING

You have a practical understanding of physical and mental change, take +1 when casting an enchantment spell.

DHAMPIR

Your magic is fueled by blood. When you drink someone’s blood, you can perform a ritual as if you were in a place of power.

DWARF

When you create an item using Ritual, you can veto one condition.

GNOME

You learn an additional spell each level.

HALF-ORC

Your training was tough and hands-on. Your HP is 8+Constitution.

WARFORGED

When you use Spell Defense, your armor is equal to the spell’s level+1.

In celebration of the Dungeon World Tavern reaching 2112 followers, JJ Lanza  and I are excited to announce Caress of Steel:

In a world lit only by fire, the Worldsong hums. Wide-eyed armies of the faithful march, evil spirits haunt the sleep of children, and the restless wind howls through the night. A mechanized world out of hand, the Clockwork Angels spread their arms and sing the Watchmaker’s praises while the Disciples of the Snow Dog do battle against the forces of By-Tor the Betrayer. In this one of many possible worlds, you travel onward. You travel in the time of the prophets, through cities full of hatred, fear, and lies, through forests filled with unrest. Under the six stars of the Northern Cross, what you own is your own kingdom, what you do is your own glory, what you love is your own power, what you live is your own story. So get out there and rock, and roll the bones.

Caress of Steel: A Dungeon World Toolkit is designed to take inspiration from the music of Rush and translate it to Dungeon World. We will be at GenCon, so contact JJ Lanza  or I to get more information or even sit in on a game!

So, I’ve been thinking about how to go about converting the various classes from Pathfinder to DW.

So, I’ve been thinking about how to go about converting the various classes from Pathfinder to DW. I’ve already done the Cavalier and Summoner, and I’ve been wondering about the Sorcerer and Oracle. I want to find a balance between the Wizard and the Mage. So here’s what I have so far:

You’re able to write up a limited number of spells based on your bloodline or divine mystery, such as breathing fire for a draconic bloodline or a blinding light from the heavens mystery. Basically, you write an effect and choose a range. Also, to replace losing the spell, they have a Hold called Fury or Divinity that represents their battle of wills to keep their heritage or blessing in check.

What do you guys think?

We’ve got the Halfling Elemental Champion, Human Beast Caller, Human Druidic Ritualist, Elf Master of One Form, and Human Hive Master. I’ll have artwork for the Weather Witch (Scion of the Storm? Storm-Child? Has a name been decided on?) later on today or tomorrow morning.

Artwork, artwork, artwork!

Artwork, artwork, artwork! All of this is for my upcoming Eberron DW campaign setting, which I’m almost done with! We’ve got a half-orc druid, a halfling cavalier, a warforged psion, a kalashtar paladin, a human champion of the Silver Flame (which shall be released in Grim Portents #2), and a shifter ranger.

So I’ve been thinking about DungeonWorld as it compares to D&D, and I was wondering what you guys thought about races affecting ability scores. For example, an elf fighter would get +1 Dexterity, whereas a dwarf fighter would get +1 Constitution, in addition to the normal racial moves. Would this be too much? Should they also get a -1? Is it even necessary?

Hey guys, so I wanted to get a bit of feedback on a compendium class I’m working on for my Eberron supplement, the Master Inquisitive.

When you successfully solve a difficult mystery, you may take this move when you level up:

Zone of Truth

When you augment your interrogation skills with a bit of magic, roll+CHA. On a 10+, they’ll answer any question you ask truthfully. On a 7-9, they’ll talk, but you need to promise them something first, the GM will tell you what.

Once you’ve taken the Zone of Truth move, you may take the following moves whenever you level up as if they were part of your class’s move list:

I Know a Guy

When you put the word out that you’re looking for someone, something, or some information, tell the GM what, and then roll+CHA. On a 10+, one of your contacts has just what you need or knows right where to find it. On a 7-9, they have a clue of where you might be able to find it.

Only Wizard in the Yellow Pages

Choose a number of divination spells equal to your INT. You can cast those spells as a wizard.

Hard-Boiled Inquisitive

More than a few people have tried to stop your investigations, and you’ve toughened up because of it. You gain +1 armor while on a case.

A couple of questions: should the entry requirement be different? I mean, they are a detective, so I think that solving a mystery is alright.
