Since DW likes to be old school and I like monk-type classes, I thought it’d be nice to make a DW version of an old school class that  fits both bills: The Mystic.

The Mystic veers more towards the old school version of the archetype, but can grow to fit other molds as it advances.

If you felt your game could use the sagely wisdom and martial prowess of a martial artist, then, by all means, give it a look.

I think I get why the core classes are restricted to certain race/alignment combinations.

I think I get why the core classes are restricted to certain race/alignment combinations. But for the sake of player freedom I thought it would be interesting to fill out all possibilities for starting characters by adding new racial abilities and alignment goals. Why not play as an evil dwarf bard?

To help come up with stuff that fits the canon, I made a spreadsheet that shows the existing stuff alongside the gaps. Does anyone have ideas for these? I have some thoughts, but I’m definitely stumped on a few (what does a good barbarian want to do?).

To emphasize that these combinations are odd and should be played differently than the canonical ones, I also added a new starting move that makes it a little harder to blend in with normal society.

I’m thinking about making some kind of a Transmutation mage playbook.

More stuff for #Stonetop : the regional map, expedition moves, and the ranger.

More stuff for #Stonetop : the regional map, expedition moves, and the ranger.

Some of the expedition moves are new, some are changes to existing DW moves. I added them partly because of personal preferences (Perilous Journey always bugged me) and partly to reflect the nature of this world. Most travel happens on the old Makers’ roads. Travel to other places is perilous at best, and wandering around looking for something without a guide is a good way to get into trouble.

The ranger is a total rewrite (like all the Stonetop playbooks will be, to tie them more directly to the town). Some of their moves interact with the expedition moves, and this version of Animal Companion uses the Follower rules I posted earlier.

As always, feedback appreciated!

Good Evening.

Me and my friend were talking about the ritual  of the Wizard.

I have used it only with the fiction. A typical request can be “I use a Ritual! I give the strength of the Titans to my friends!!”

Now my friend say: “I use the Ritual! I give to my friends +5 to the Strength rolls!”

It is possible? I always assumed that the player can talk just about the fiction, not about the mechanics.

Made up another class the other night that I thought would be interesting, the inspiration is the Darkness from comics and video games. What I really like is how variable class is, you can go with various stats and really change the class around. Playing a warrior from the shadow with Strength or alternatively playing an intelligence based shadowmage.

Please let me know what you think.
