Hey Jason Lutes

Hey Jason Lutes

Hey Jason Lutes,

I’ve got four 10 and 11 year olds coming for a beach holiday next month (my daughter in the mix), and although its Autumn, we’ll be in the water all day and hanging out playing games at night. The simple little cabin has no TV Yay! or Internet connection, so I’m planning on running a Perilous Wilds Game for the Kids using World of Dungeons.

I’ve been searching everywhere on my hard drive, but I’ll be darned if I can find a WoD character sheet / one page summary in the Perilous Worlds Style. I think it even had borders by Kenny Widjaja!  I’m sure I remember one from somewhere…

Am I imagining it?

I’ve got Blake Hutchins’ excellent Dungeon Girls sheets, but I just wanted to collate all my resources before he head off, since it’ll have to hard copies of all my supplies.

Can any one help here? Thanks in advance!

I was linked to these through the Lonewolf solo rpg community and thought, ‘Hey!

I was linked to these through the Lonewolf solo rpg community and thought, ‘Hey! These would be great for  the Perilous Wilds!’

Great evocative descriptors, weather and tags aplenty.

The artwork is pretty OldSkool too.

Once I get them into my hot little hands I’m going to come up with a procedure for using them in conjuction with the ‘making a map’ guidelines and the player moves in Perilous Journeys. This will be fun!

Hi, could you give some hint`s about “Plumb the Depths” section.

Hi, could you give some hint`s about “Plumb the Depths” section. I fell a little messed with it. The main question should Common or Unique created according to p.58 table? I check with “Perilous Deeps” and were confused. Quite a big difference form original example. I felt quite exhausted after preparing medium dungeon with 12 common & 12 unique rooms. Some with different dangers and discoveries.

I got bored and started throwing together a personal python script to generate Discoveries, Dangers, Steadings, Creatures, and the like automatically.

The content of PW appears to be CC licensed, but I still want to put this out there in case someone has some issues with this. Copy/pasting the tables and converting to python data-structures is tedious, but I might have something that’d generate the entire book’s contents soon.

Thoughts/opinions? I will end up putting this in a git repo somewhere

Hey gang.

Hey gang.

Hey gang. Are there any video APs of folks using the Perlious Wilds rules in play to make the maps / dungeons / steadings on the fly?

I’m trying to convince some new gamer friends out in the wilds of Australia where I work to give up their D&D ways and try a little DW action. They like vids, so……

My youtube-fu is weak sauce.

Any suggestions?

Due to scheduled GM illness for our Night Witches game, I filled in tonight with a mostly improvised Perilous Wilds game. It was a lot of fun and went pretty well.

I’d rolled up some dangers and discoveries for use in an upcoming convention game, and used some of those here. I discovered that I should have rolled up some dungeons too!

My two rolled on the spot dungeons worked fine, however. Just slow.

Final score: the two dwarf cousins/brothers (we were never quite sure) made it back to town with a purse full of precious metal and a wand of lightning bolts. The elf… well, after he disappeared into the purple glowing thing, he got captured by serpentfolk and eventually freed when the serpentfolk chaos temple was raided by paladins of Law. He elected to end his adventuring career (he had just terrible stat rolls, and bad dice luck on top of that.)

Also of note:

– Danger: an angry, sleep deprived halfling named Barton.

– Danger: flock of dire ducks

Really enjoyed reading PW + FotF.

Really enjoyed reading PW + FotF. I am curious how people refer to the tables in practice; it seems a bit cumbersome to flip back and forth between the small pages mid-game, especially with the way the physical book is bound (requiring at least one hand to hold open). Anybody have any tips there? Is there a chance of a GM/Referee screen being made?

Just picked up my copy of The Perilous Wilds.

Just picked up my copy of The Perilous Wilds. Oh am I impressed. As for printing, what is the best format for doing so? I worry that the text will be too small if I print the spread format, but the other format is much more paper and ink intensive, and would honestly be pretty large.
