Just had some solo fun rolling up a bunch of freebooters, which I am planning to use for convention or one-shot games. I really enjoyed the randomness, with many of them being just terrible and one lucky freebooter who got an 18 and two 16s.
I think I’ll just make people pick by reading out the basic description: “Esward, a chaotic human magic user”.
And Jason Lutes, I absolutely loved the spell generation! Hilarious! The aforementioned Esward starts with “Winda’s Sigil of Sight” and “Parteria’s Enveloping Despair”.

Everyone at the table says this first session of freebooters was the best session we have all had in 5 years of gaming together.
This campaign is going to be fucking rad and I am absolutely excited!

Also, Freebooters is so awesome. Had my first game as a Judge, I nearly TPK by accident with… 3 goblins . Beware, fellow Judges, this game is way more lethal than DW.
It was to be a One Shot, but my players and I are already plotting to do a multi-GM opentable campaign.

Received my books last week (Australia) in perfect condition. Absolutely delighted with them. Jason Lutes knows how to run a Kickstarter. I’m definitely on board if you want to try something with a larger scope in future (something hardback would be cool).
In our first official, books-on-hand Freebooters game the adventurers responded to rumours of a missing wagon out in the desert, failed a Scout roll and were ambushed by Kobolds. The Halfling thief did not survive. Very sad.
But lots of bonus money for the Dwarf Fighter and Human Cleric!

Goodies! Here are my own custom sheets for FREEBOOTERS ON THE FRONTIER. Print the whole PDF double-sided. You’ll find:
1. A 4-page playbook for each class including some nice bonus material. (Fighter and Thief books are 3 pages + 1 blank)
2. Four double-sided XP/Stash cards (cut them apart after printing)
3. Single-page summaries of Random Character Creation rules and Marketplace.
All sheets are intended to be hole-punched. Cut the XP/Stash cards first and punch two holes in each.
