Does anyone actually use moves like 7-9: rip off a limb?

Doesn’t that feel like it’s a bit much? If some gets a limb shorn off, narratively, aren’t they just like dead? I feel stuff like that alienates the audience. Also, short of magical healing, how is that limb really coming back on there?

Rather, I like something like

7-9: Cripples limb/gear into useless ribbons or something of the like blah blah

Am I thinking it’s worse than it is?

Help¡ I am running the last battle for my months long Campaign and would like some help making it special.

Help¡ I am running the last battle for my months long Campaign and would like some help making it special. The bbeg Tiamat is finally coming to town. Please help me with moves and any boss mechanics that will really make this session powerful for my youth club kids.

Thanks

Any good advice of philosophy on hard vs soft moves?

Any good advice of philosophy on hard vs soft moves? Do you ever just let yourself as the GM just make a hard move, say everyone is rolling high that fight? I know there’s no turn order, you but do you allow yourself as the GM a spot to make a periodic hard move?

Has anyone tried to implement the magic system from Freebooters into Dungeon World?

Has anyone tried to implement the magic system from Freebooters into Dungeon World? (like the Spell Power point system, spell creation, learning new spells roll, etc)

I keep reading the tag lines that DW harkens back to old-school dungeon gaming.

I keep reading the tag lines that DW harkens back to old-school dungeon gaming. Am I the only one that thinks that’s a load of $#*!?

I love DW cause it’s totally the opposite. Old school never cared about behind the scenes/off camera machinations. Old school seemed to only care about crunch.

I feel there is nothing old school about DW and that is a HUGE compliment. Please tell me what I how I am wrong about that.
