Working on a setting/hack for Dungeon World called Blood Moon.

Working on a setting/hack for Dungeon World called Blood Moon.  I am working towards something that is a post-apocalyptic, elemental-punk , necro-demonic, grim  fantasy campaign setting. It was something I started under Dragonquest but actually hope to complete for Dungeon World. It’s been percolating in my imagination for about a decade now.  Eventually I will post some materials here.  Feed back will be welcomed.

I am no web designer but simply someone who enjoys tinkering with some of the basic tools that are available. I recently decided to put up a website to aid myself and some of my players in grasping the basics of the game s well as being a place for me to find things I frequently use as part of Dungeon World. The site is not complete, but many of the main features are there. Please feel free to check it out and offer any suggestions. http://dungeonworldexplorer.com/ I’ll post updates as I add them to the site.

Anyone remember the conversation a while back explaining the various levels of fiction that one can embrace in a game?  I think there were three levels the person described:  epic – heroic – realistic. I am looking to print that out to help some aspiring DMs.

When you played DW or another AW game for the first time what did you find the most different?  This could be something positive, negative, jarring or eye-opening.  For me it was the lack of combat rounds.  I can’t tell you how much time I kept looking for something in the book on them.

I had read about the fiction determining when moves took place, but it sure took a while for me to get it.

Just a random comment regarding this great creative community. I really appreciate many of the contributions that are aids for those playing the game. I do my best to spread the joy of RPG games and real time spent with people in face to face interaction. (I love video games and spent nearly six years of my life on COH/COV.) But on-line games just don’t compare to real time interactions in person or via camera/microphone.

Getting players to try a game is fairly easy if they are even remotely interested in fantasy, getting a new player to run a game is an immense hurdle. (At least that I how I have experienced it.) I think so many of the playing aids here and different conversations have provided me with more tools and resources to encourage players to step up as it were.  I know GMing is not for everyone, but I suspect that many worry about the awkwardness of it as they begin.  Everyone develops their own style and the more one tries the better they become at it.  Happy rant over, please return to your regular Thursday routines.

Just purchased Microscope, want to use it with 3 other adult players to create an RPG setting, didn’t someone post something about that in the tavern not too long ago?  If so could someone point me to that link or or other helpful ones.  Once the world is established we will pick a time frame to run an Dungeon World Campaign.

Question for the community regarding multi-classing in DW.

Question for the community regarding multi-classing in DW.

Question for the community regarding multi-classing in DW. Once a character takes the beginning moves of another class, are they able to take subsequent moves from that class when they advance, or only when they are allowed to take another move outside of their advanced moves. I have already decided that they can, but wanted to see if there was some warning I was ignoring. My thinking was, since compendium classes can do it, why shouldn’t multi-classes. Thanks all.

My first memories of role-playing came from seeing this book in the college lounge. (I was in high school at the time) I was fortunate enough to sit in on a couple of sessions as a spectator and was hooked on the idea. That was in the spring of 1981′ by Christmas of the year I would be buying Dragonquest and the rest is history.  What are your first memories of an RPG?  (Knowing what we do now about games, the front cover should be titled “It takes two to get crushed by a dragon.”)
