#WorldBuildingWednesday

So your world has Dwarves and Humans, Elves and Half-lings, Goblins and Gnolls. But what does your world have that others might not? What other races or even variants of races have you included in your world?

Perhaps your elves are the high and mighty pristine rulers of Dragons or perhaps they are wild in the forests with spears and bows.

The most important part of worldbuilding is to fill it with life, but you get to add your own touch.

#WorldbuildingNotWednesday  Someone, or something, has been hiding bright and colourful eggs around town.

#WorldbuildingNotWednesday  Someone, or something, has been hiding bright and colourful eggs around town. This started out fine, people were amused, annoyed, even taking some back to their homes as ornaments. Then the first one hatched.

“It were like a rabbit, but big as a dog! Longer legs too, like, you know, if you took a dog and kinda, molded a rabbit onto it?”

A few people were injured, bumps and bruises, before it was taken down by an arrow.

Then the second incident broke out, someone had seen it hatch out, a small creature that suddenly grew larger. The same theme, the shape of a dog, but this time as if a wasp had morphed into the shape.

It’d had the stinger too.

Then they started getting bigger. When a horse shaped lizard had burst into Morty’s apothecary, you’ve decided to take action.

Can you find the eggs before they hatch? Who’s planting them around town in the first place? And what’s with this old guy who’s been asking for them, taking the eggs people HAVE found away?

Happy Easter Everybody!

With the new release of Inverse World, I want to play a game. Typically.

I’ll be hosting a PBP game of Inverse World, perhaps as a one shot or an extensive game I haven’t decided yet, for four to five players. If anyone is interested, comment here. If I can get minimum of three interested participants by the end of the weekend, I’ll set it up. Details below –  ————————————————————————————————

All Inverse World Playbooks will be available.

All characters will start at level 3, simply because I like the idea of having a couple of extra moves to really have a go at the playbook.

Races will work as Inverse World rules, so go wild.

It’s entirely possible the setting I have in mind will be somewhat swampy. So, maybe keep that in mind upon creation. ((Ancient Ruins Golem, for example?)) but don’t feel this limits you. I’ll be creating the world around the characters you supply.

A wizard and a warden-esque character are sneaking around the town, spotting a group of tieflings and a construct. They make some noise, causing the Tieflings to come check it out. The Warden has decided to turn into a tree, and the wizard is using some powers to disguise himself as a statue. They both rolled so well the Tieflings are confused because “I didn’t see those when we came in..”

They took the phrase “Act natural” too literally.

My friends and I had our first Dungeon World session.

My friends and I had our first Dungeon World session.

My friends and I had our first Dungeon World session.

If I were to sum it up in a couple of words, it’d be “Hijinks Ensued.”

We played a number of playbooks, Dragon Mage, Winter Mage, to Grim Worlds Channeller and Necromancer and a Druid.

The party was tasked to take a boat to a nearby island where Mermaids were attacking the mainland from. A fairly simple excursion they nevertheless managed to screw up in the first few seconds by getting into a fight with one another and accidentally burning up a bystander. They quickly rushed onto the boat to make for their mission in hopes nobody noticed, and the necromancer took the body.

They set off, managing a long journey on their rations but about halfway were attacked by a group of Mermaids, followed shortly by a Water Drake.

Long story short, one mermaid was literally disarmed, the sail was frozen up by our Winter Mage. The boat was set on fire numerous times and put out shortly after and our Druid turned into a bird only to become encased in ice and floated into the ocean until rescue could come, the Winter Mage not wanting to use all of his Chill to thaw him out and Him not wanting to let the Dragon Mage or Chaneller use Fire to get him out.

Remember that random bystander from earlier they hoped nobody noticed they killed? Well his son noticed, and was drafted onto the same ship. The Necromancer used the son’s own father as a human shield, driving the son to attempt to kill the party, to little avail.

The Necromancer’s pots now contain the father, his son, and one mermaid.

Arriving at the island, they learned the Mermaids were born out of giant Frogspawn-like eggs from a giant Hydra, under the control of a large Naga. The Hydra swam to divert the ship, but they pushed forward, distracting the Hydra with the necromancer’s Mermaid. They jumped from the ship and fought the Naga and the Hydra.

To cut a long story short, the island ended up on fire.

Their boat has a big gaping hole.

And the fire elemental the Channeller has summoned has become hostile.

Oh I can’t wait till next time.

Are there any boards someone can join to join Dungeon World games done in a play by post style?

If not, would people be interested in one? Solely to playing the games, threads for characters. A section could be added for compendium classes and the like.

I’m looking at playing Grim World stuff but just want anything really, but time constraints prevent me running or joining any games in real time.

Okay, #Druidweek  is over now, and as promised I will start work on making a Druid Week PDF with the collected discussions from the week. This will include;

– Discussions on the Tells and Animal forms for each land, including some of the little conversations that took place in them.

– Moves for animal forms for each kind of land.

– Various Compendium Classes, from both myself and Tim Franzke.

– Extra moves to take inspiration from, such as Herb Gathering or Parleying with Animals.

– Art from Giovanni Lanza, who’s done a great job.

– Talks about the Druids moves.

– Other submissions, credited of course, and with permission. For example Mike Weem’s Sacred Groves submission, or at least bits of, and then appropriate links.

So, why am I posting this when I’ve already said I will make the PDF. Because it’s not just going to be over. Druid Week was fantastic, a great way to kick off peoples inspiration, to all come together on a topic. I want to add even more, there’s a lot to grab from Tim’s hard work, and I will be adding my own things into the PDF to give something new even to those who were reading #Druidweek  religiously (I know I was). If anyone has any other submissions, any other thoughts, moves for the druid or an animal. Even questions, which I would submit into the PDF with answers from myself, and another I can get for extra answers and other opinions, send them to me. I would love extra submissions.

I will also in the next week attempt to do a Hangout, so we can get together again and talk about it. Although me being in England, I can understand time zones may be a female druid turning into a dog.

Thanks for reading, hope you’re interested, updates soon.
