The Druid’s Spirit Tongue: this works all the time, no roll required right? Do you impose any kind of limitation on number of questions asked or the amount of real world time they can converse with the animal in question?

I’m only asking because my wife was tearing my mystery based adventure to shreds last night. She was politely interrogating every woodland creature that crossed her path. I had to get really creative to avoid spilling the beans on the entire adventure due to her clever questioning. This move is crazy powerful O_o

Earlier tonight was the first time I’ve had a Cleric in play. Just to be clear, Rotes are the same as Spells right? You have to roll to use them.

I just realized tonight that I’ve been using Spout Lore incorrectly. I’ve had it reversed, where the player uses the move to introduce a new information about a situation or setting detail. I thought this was awesome because it gave players a way of regularly collaborating on the setting bits.

It hasn’t been abused or problematic in any way. I know this isn’t official DW, but can anybody argue why I shouldn’t allow Spout Lore to be used either way, GM or Player input (player’s choice)?

Kasper Brohus Allerslev started a conversation a while back about the purpose of base stats in DW (http://goo.gl/u0YCFJ). This left me wondering if there is any way, to increase their impact in the game. Base stats just tend to sit there after CharGen in most OSR style games. I realize this isn’t true in DW (gaining levels) but I’d like to see them do more.

I’ve come up with three possibilities:

1. Creating custom moves that use Stat Scores instead of Stat Modifiers.

2. Introduce an Ability Check (not sure this works in DW)

3. Add new mechanics that work with Stats (not sure what though)

Does anybody have any ideas on how base stats could be used to make them a bit more important to gameplay?

I have a friend who would like to see DW in action. Can anybody recommend a video of a play session, the shorter the better, of an online/offline game? I’d like him to be able to see it in action without having to dedicate four hours to watching a full one-shot.

Somebody recently commented or posted with a quote I really liked. For the life of me I cannot find it. It was something along the lines of:

Traditionally a GM would set out to entertain his players but in DW the roles are reversed as a GM waits to be entertained by his players.

It was much more eloquent than that. Anybody remember this? I have a buddy asking about DW and he is having trouble wrapping his head around it. I thought this would be cool to share.

I am beginning work on my equipment list and using a Rolemaster supplement to create hundreds of entries. Due to how much I will be converting, I need help understanding Weight in DW. I have two questions:

1. Looking at the DW list I see the heaviest item is 4 weight. Obviously weight is abstracted but I was hoping someone could layout a concrete way for me to convert items to DW weight. I figure physical weight and item dimensions affect this, but are there any other factors to consider?

2. Since I am introducing a classic CP/SP/GP money system as well, perhaps I should consider changing the Encumbrance move to reflect the nature of Old School treasure/item hoarding? If that is the case I guess DW weight abstraction isn’t an issue. What do you guys think? How would you handle this?

I am working on a much expanded equipment list using the old Rolemaster book “…and a 10-Foot Pole”. What would be a good method for converting cp / sp / gp to DW coins?

1 cp = 1 coin

1 sp = 2 coins

1 gp = 3 coins

First thing that popped into my head was this, though its obviously unrealistic. The OSR standard usually uses:

100 cp = 1 sp

10 sp = 1 gp

But should I use this for coins, (essentially 1 cp = 1 coin)? How would or do you convert?

Is weight in DW a measure of Stone Weight? If not, approximately how much does 1 weight weigh?
