I saw some people looking for a good, free use template to make playbooks in, so I adapted the one I made.

This is CC-BY-4.0 so feel free to use it, make new playbooks, even sell them if you like. It doesn’t have spell pages, and its missing damage die graphics but otherwise, its complete.

Check it out;

Hey Folks!

Hey Folks!

Hey Folks!

I just finished up my second set of video game inspired playbooks, this one comes with The Nameless, a kind of dark fantasy assassin who steals peoples faces, The Hexer, a monster hunting potion brewing badass, and The Soul Tamer, a supernatural monster trainer who seals beasts souls inside their own.

The bundle is already 25% off the price of the books individually but for the next day or so I’m knocking it down to 50%, just for you cool cats. Take a look!

So I’m sure many of you have seen the Charlatan playbook that’s floating around, but I feel it has some issues. Mostly the large number of +1 bonuses, and an odd focus on combat. It kind of feels like a Pathfinder/3.5 class ported to Dungeon World, without making some needed tweaks to work in the new system. That said, I really like the concept, and a lot of the moves had some potential. I think there’s space for an explicitly non-magical Bard-type class, that compensates with audacity, deception, and a bit of theatrical prop-making.

So without further ado, an update that I hope brings some cool stuff to the playbook, while cutting out most or all of the +1 moves. A brief rundown of the changes:

•Tweaked the alignment moves to be a bit more specific.

• New racial moves, that I think still capture the ideas of the original playbook without being strict +1 modifiers.

• Focused all the moves that used a stat to use either Int or Cha only.

• New Bag of Tricks move that is based on the Artificer’s Charge mechanic, allowing you to spend Props for a variety of items, with more added from level advances.

• Removed a number of the combat focused moves for a more socially-focused theme, with some get-out-of-Dodge moves to help stay out of danger.

• Added an array of bluffing and deception moves, hopefully none of which overlap so that they’re all still usable.

• Dropped damage die to a d6 instead of d8 to match the Bard’s.

• Increased Bond slots to five, leaving the Bard still the king with six, but making the Charlatan more of a social butterfly.

• Added some party-assisting moves like Know-It-All and Behind You!

• Get a patsy to throw under the bus when your schemes start to crumble!

Please give any feedback, and if you know how to contact the original author, or are the original author, let me know.

The original Charlatan playbook is credited to Sears Poncho, with changes made by myself.

A player at my table was really excited about trying out the Winter Mage, because they like ice magic, but they were a little underwhelmed. They opted to make a new class with a new spin, a sort of harbinger of the end times who stands opposite the Immolator: meet the Frostwalker.

However, they’re stuck for ideas. I think the base idea is amazing, but I’m not sure how to round it out. Ideas?

(note, I think this has the potential to be incredibly tanky and overpowered, basically impossible to kill, but discussing it with our group the players really like it — the playbook would bring a lot of really interesting roleplay options to the game)

Hi guys, a while ago me and some friends played a dungeon world campaign where quite a few classes were made with specific titles from request of the players.

Now the campaign is long over but I have all these classes hanging around, I’ve polished them up a bit but would love feedback or comments on them if possible from players more experienced. I’ll post one at a time with a decent break between since I don’t want to clog the feed or anything.

This first one is pretty simple, I just took the Discern Reality roll from the basic moves sheet and thought how it would work as a weapon. Which lead to this tactician style class idea, with an array of questions that could be asked compared to a regular player.

Here’s hoping to hear something soon, apologies if it’s secretly garbage.

So here’s some abilities I cooked up for a hand to hand combat kind of guy. There were so many had to settle on 6 abilities for one class but you could take anyone of them to multiclass or build your own archtype. Perfect for any martial artist, brawler, monk, mystic, boxer, wrestler, scoundrel or guy/gal who like to punch or kick or get up close in combat. I present my First Draft.

Fistfighters get Evasion as their skill. Choose two special abilities. 1Swipe (when rushing by, you may attempt to take something right out of someone’s hand). 2Vicious (you can strike armored opponents at weak points, dealing full damage and block/deflect weapons with your limbs). 3Lunge (Expose yourself to harm but deal 2x damage). 4 In control (Once a day, turn partial success into full success). 5Streetfighter

(+1 ongoing when your outnumbered, or outgunned). 6Elusive (-1d6 damage when focusing on defense over offense and are unarmed and unarmored)

Just in case, it’s for WOD but could be converted to DW pretty simply.
