This is my first attempt in creating a pre-written adventure for dungeon world. It will have a little dark play but this is what I came up with. I wanted to have play that didn’t only consist of the typical dungeon crawl.

Reviews and suggestions please.

Can anyone recommend a DW adventure that is suitable for a group (and GM – me – who has never GMed before) who have never played DW before?  We’ve played a few other systems, mainly Deadlands, and tend to prefer things that are a little more interesting than generic Hack n Slash.

Something relatively simple that can be wrapped up in a few sessions max (or extended into a campaign, but I’ll know more about that when/if necessary) and newbie-GM-friendly would be great.

So, last night as I was falling asleep I had this idea about interesting in media res starters for a dungeon world game.  I thought it might be interesting to show a picture to the players and start asking questions…

This was the first picture that came to my mind…

I’m working on 4 “Funnel Starters” for my Funnel World hack, and I’d love feedback from anyone who has a couple of minutes to read them over. Spoilers!

Has anyone run RK1: Knives in the Dark (or would Johnstone Metzger like to weigh in)?

Has anyone run RK1: Knives in the Dark (or would Johnstone Metzger like to weigh in)? I’m considering running it for a public-play game at my FLGS, but need to plan ahead for the number of sessions I’ll need for the adventure. We play for 2-2 1/2 hours once a week.

48 hours left!

48 hours left! This will be a finite print run of 350-400 copies (tbd by final numbers at the close of the campaign), but the adventure will eventually be made available through DriveThruRPG.

Heartfelt thanks to all the members of the Dungeon World community who kicked in and/or spread the word, especially Adam Koebel, Sage LaTorra, David Guyll, and Casey McKenzie. This campaign has been successful enough to encourage me to produce more adventures and rules supplements for DW, a prospect which has me super excited.

I’ve got in my mind an idea for a campaign setting.

I’ve got in my mind an idea for a campaign setting. The premise would be to take the tropes of Vietnam movies such as Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and Apocalypse Now.

The world is roughly split between two superpowers, a totalitarian dictatorship and a corrupt kleptocracy. The adventure site is a small island in the ocean, about 1/4 of the way to the former empire. The conflict is a proxy war fought between the two empires for control of the island, since it has both strategic and economic value.

What do you think, sirs? A little fantasy Vietnam?
