I can’t figure out if I should have the Inverse World book yet.  Like, did they ship three months ago and mine disappeared?  Or are we just still patiently waiting?  Or what?

I haven’t kept up with products enough to answer, but over at the RPG stackexchange site, someone’s asking for products that provide explanatory Adventure Fronts examples.

I’ve been playing a bit of Dungeon World and I’m interested in damage dice.  Specifically, what do they add to the game?  In AW, there’s just a harm number and it’s modified with +/- mods and the harm move, but no damage roll.  What’s better about doing it the way DW does it?

The answer that I’ve come up with is, basically, nothing.  Or rather, the link to D&D may have value (familiarity, sentimentality, kitch or whatever) for some people, but not me, and I’m not seeing anything else.  So, I’m hoping there’s something cool about it that I haven’t noticed or thought of yet.

What is it?

I had this idea that I could make an awesome custom map of Dis for a (as yet, hypothetical) Planarch Codex game as a collage of bits of real maps. Many styles and scales and then some painting on top maybe. Now that I’ve got my draft put together, I’m not so sure. But I figured I’d show it off anyway. 🙂

So, around two years ago, I played DW on a forum with people with whom I’d played other forum games.  And it wasn’t very fun.  Even at the time, with the version that was floating around for Adventurers Guild members, there were tons of people raving about the fun they were having and I didn’t get it.  But I didn’t know if it was the game or PBF or just us, the players.

Anyway, last night I played the second session of a game that we started on Saturday and I’m having a hell of a time playing the druid.  And I’m really looking forward to playing more.

I’m not exactly taking back things that I wrote about that earlier experience — it was what it was.  But this current experience is way more fun to think about and now I get it.

So thanks Adam and Sage (and Tony) (and Vincent) and the community!

Man, it’s tough watching Dungeon World arrive all over the world while my mailbox in Minnesota sits forelorn and empty day after day.  🙂
