Quick question. If you get hold from 2 different moves, can you spend them interchangeably? Like is hold specific to a particular move, or does it add up in a pool you can use for any hold move?
I mean, I get it, small fees from tons of internet people adds up to a potentially decent revenue stream for creative types, but I generally equated it to the rumored “subscription model” for the Windows OS. You end up paying 17 bajillion dollars for something that used to have one fixed price.
That said, one dude has changed my mind. Johnstone Metzger is doing amazing shit for both Dungeon World and Labyrinth Lord. For a few bucks a month I get creative, well-designed and professional-looking content? Sign me up!

We had an Earthling, an Engine of Destruction and a Mage. They escaped a gang of punk zombie bikers to explore a titanic fluid transfer system on my weirdo Planet X. They encountered a green death slime, a Mass of Limbs from Johnstone Metzger’s awesome Wizard-Spawned Insanities, and a psychic holo-dragon. They discovered a trapezoid-shaped dimension ship, and managed to figure out how to pilot it to Viriconium.
After a brief battle with some purple mutants, the oracle/sage Sutomo advised them where to find the Lost City, where they discovered a massive bronze ziggurat filled with scientists experimenting on ancient soul crystals from a forgotten war (reskinned Thaumaturgy Crew from A Market in the Woods).
The Engine of Destruction learned where his spliced consciousness came from, the Earthling was possessed by the soul of a long-dead space marine, and they’re now trying to figure out how to stop the scientists from splicing more space marine souls into robot brains.
I went ahead and made a campaign binder with this cover:
Is there a place that discusses how to handle monster special qualities? I’ve seen:
-Turn flesh to stone with a gaze
-Spell: Overheat a foe so they doff their armour
-Spot a foe’s weakness and take advantage
How do you handle these kinds of things at the table? Just have the player Defy Danger and describe the results? I’m having trouble with the nuts and bolts here. Can anyone help?
