the BEAN! a PC that ate a magic bean and now his blood can grow a varity of magic beans with amazing short term effects…. but also some crazy side effects

feedback would be great as well as suggestions for moves, i kinda want to make him/her an everyman, so not super strong or dexterous (except when using beans) thinking basing around CON and CHA

also some gaps in the ramdom effects table that i’d love some suggestions for 😀

Soul smith

Can ghost like summon weapons from his soul

You pick a weapon type that you can summon without using a move (advanced moves increase this)

You can also create objects but they can only be interacted by living things (so a wall you cant run through it, but an arrow will shoot right through) this requires a move

10+ its fine,

7-9 pick one *wont last long *you take d4 harm *it hurts others to touch it take d4 harm first time you touch it

you always ignore armour and your weapons don’t effect the environment only living things (as you harm their soul) (they leave no visible wounds)

you can also heal people via touching their soul

advanced moves**

• Can read peoples emotions and physical wellbeing on sight

• Can sense people in a location without sight

• Knockout, you can touch someone and roll

10 you knock them out unconscious,

7-9 pick one *its drains you take -1 forward, *the target wont be out very long, *it makes them scream loudly before they pass out

also im working on a class based on eating magic beans, you have a bag of beans (like ammo) and can find the right bean and eat it for crazy short term effects (become a giant, breathe fire, become water) but with some entertaining downsides

Spellslinger and fighter

Yesterday I ran a DW session for 5 newbies, not just to DW but to RPGing

And they loved it! We sat in sunny beer garden and played for about 4 hours, 1.5 of which was a quick chat about “fiction first” and “triggering a move”

They all got it and spent just over an hour making characters and making the world (I had them each draw where they came from on a blank sheet of A3) and mixing up their back stories and bonds

They all said the bonds part was one of the fave parts of character creation

And we were off meeting up a year after thier last quest together, they enjoyed drinks and then in thier hangovered state checked the wanted posters and went off on an adventure!

(They traveled, fought goblins, 2 wild blink dogs – that were super scary they said) and chased after a cart that left no tracks?!

All of them can’t wait to play again, even 1 who was a bit of a “tag along girlfriend” but she loved it especially being bonded with another player and clashing with her BF’s character

So happy, made me love GM’ing and DW is brilliant for newbies

(Other characters are, Druid, ranger & thief)

Thought i’d share, Transformed one of my fave classes (the elementalist – come on who DOESNT want to play an avatar…

into the cool minimalist style by (sorry forgot his name..)

not really sure on the “ok-ness” of uploading it or the word template ive created (as i plan to turn all my playbooks into this minimalist style)

played DW today, had a player jump off a roof onto someone to try and stop them (a little girl with bundle of wands)

wasnt sure what move to make, then reaslised, custom moves!

“jump tackle”

10+ all three

7-9 choose 1

* you tackle and pin the target

* the target doesnt take any damage

* you dont take any damage

so asking anyone would have done differently/better?

even so we all thought at the table it worked well ^_^

first afternoon of running dungeon world as the GM.

first afternoon of running dungeon world as the GM.

first afternoon of running dungeon world as the GM… my players tried to steal whilst the town was under attack, liquified some goblins, set fire to the tavern, sliced a ogre in half in one swing, got the passed out half giant stuck inside the kitchen because they couldnt fit him through a door, “saved” him by letting the rubble fall on him, and fought off a mind controlling, shape shifting clay monster that had attached itself to the creatures and a giant ornate beer stein and took the shape of a giant spider (inspired in part by “the hollow” PDF i found someware, nerd werd?)

all in a days work…

oh and shield slammed and threatened to kill an old lady for spitting in the wizards face (she blamed them for bringing the trouble to town…) ^_^

the game worked brilliantly, i only had to delve into the rulebook once durring play for a quick double check when leveling up at the end of the session

was first time for everyone at the table and got some brilliant roleplay, especially out of a usually slap happy character and the flow of the game was brilliant 😀
