I have decided to start a blog about Dungeon World and my hack, Stonetop.

The first few posts will be largely functional (posting links to and summaries of my work). But after that, I plan to start putting up some old “from the archives of the Tavern” posts and some design-diary type essays.

Anything you’d like me to talk about? Any topics rolling around that you want to discuss?

(edit: criminy… that feeling when you freaking register your blog with a typo in the name. fixed now, but… this bodes well.)

I have started digging into PbtA games and am loving all the discussions on reddit and G+.

I have started digging into PbtA games and am loving all the discussions on reddit and G+. I’ve not run or played any of the games, but come mostly from a D&D background. I’ve been intrigued by Yochai Gal ‘s “One Shot World” and am excited to play with my buddies.

Questions though … when dealing damage, are there different dice rolled or harm points depending on the weapon? And also how does a PC’s armor impact the damage dealt by an adversary?

Help us come up with flags!

Hi All,

Some of you may have seen this request already but we could use more!

We’re working on Sword Breaker issue #7 (our DW zine) and it will be aimed at younger players. We want to provide options for flags that will be super clear and actionable. I expect there will be a wide range of ages at each table because families often try to play with siblings who are spread out in age and ability. Here are some examples:

* Make me mad so I can act crazy!

* Make me do the talking because you know it freaks me out!

* Treat me like the boss!

We’re open to suggestions and alternative opinions as well.

We will, of course, give credit to anyone who contributes.

Anyone know of any playbooks that are more Victorian era like?

Anyone know of any playbooks that are more Victorian era like? For instance Solomon Kane? Or even 1890’s Gothic London esque? I know there is Tremulus, for lovecraftian horror, but I feel the playbooks are very generic with no flavor like DW playbooks. Thanks

Hi there

Hi there,

Considering the “Magnamund” setting (i.e. Lone Wolf universe) is pretty cool but the corresponding RPG is pretty bad IMHO, I’m contemplating using the DW rules in the Lone Wolf setting.

That would mean adapting the classes and monsters of Lone Wolf to DW. I wondered if anyone already did this? Any help much appreciated!

Did we ever have a discussion on using Debilities as a replacement for HP?

Did we ever have a discussion on using Debilities as a replacement for HP? I feel like we did at some point, I just can’t find it.

By this, I mean when you take damage, you mark one or more debilities instead of HP. HP would just be for NPCs.
