I need your help! I’m working on my first ever class, and I’d like feedback, specifically:

– there are 10 too many advanced moves; which would you trash?

– are any of the moves too strong?

My skin’s thick enough, so any kind of criticism is welcome. Just comment here or directly in the doc. Thanks you awesome DW Tavernites!

So a friend of mine and I are thinking about trying to put together a Space Opera focused hack of Dungeon World.

So a friend of mine and I are thinking about trying to put together a Space Opera focused hack of Dungeon World. We’re starting off by putting together some core playbooks, we have an idea of what kinds we want to make but we’re having a hard time putting together a coherent set of moves that differentiates each class. Does anybody have any advice on how to build balanced character classes and make good move sets for them?

Hey new to DWT. I have a few custom classes in the works and this is the first one I wrote. Critiques are welcome!

So here is version 2 of my Skald playbook.

So here is version 2 of my Skald playbook. It’s a barbarian/bard hybrid, or a fighty-er and bawdier version of a bard.

In version 2 I added names, looks, bonds, I’ve updated Gear options (adding a precise 2 handed sword), and edited some advanced moves: Solid Note, Party Animal (thanks David Guyll), Blistering Invective, and Legend Lore (which needed a buff since rolling a 12+ on a move based off a stat you’re likely going to have a +0 in was weak).

I would still love to hear feedback on any moves you like or don’t like and any suggestions you have to improve current moves.

Has anyone played with the Immolator class yet, and how do you feel it plays?

Has anyone played with the Immolator class yet, and how do you feel it plays? I’m having some difficulty with the tags on Burning Brand, why does it have both Touch (like a poison?) and the Hand range? Are you incapable of creating a weapon bigger than a dagger without advanced moves? Are you literally just setting your hand on fire and punching people or throwing fireballs?

Also, will we be seeing an updated version of this class soon from Sage and Adam?

Guys, I’m looking for some classes and have not been successful on Google. I’m looking for two classes specifically.

Guys, I’m looking for some classes and have not been successful on Google. I’m looking for two classes specifically.

First, a Demon Hunter, a nimble and fast-thinking character that is on the hunt for demons, undead and the like. A bit VanHelsing-esque or even Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter. With a hint of The Witcher and the Witch Hunter from Warhammer Online (R.I.P.).

Second, some kind of Gadgeteer/Engineer, proficient in the creation of contraptions that normal folks never even thought of. In my fantasy setting, he would be on the verge of technology, barely being able to handle self-made guns at great danger. Always having some appropriate answer on his toolbelt. A bit of Mass Effect, Inspector Gadget, and Guild Wars 2.

Suggestions? I’ll probably write them up myself but would like to see if anybody already did some work on these concepts!

I didn’t help remake this one, BUT I did help him come up with a way to design the character sheet.

I didn’t help remake this one, BUT I did help him come up with a way to design the character sheet. I got so giddy when I came up with using the staff and music notes that I was flailing my arms and shouting, “I got it! I got it!” (I’m a big band geek.)

Now having played the original DW Bard to level 7 I must say that there were times I felt pretty useless, or the idea that I needed to pull out my flute and play something real quick in the middle of battle that just didn’t fit in my mind. It was a fun campaign, but not until I hit level 6 did I feel really useful. As a person who’s played various musical instruments I just can’t imagine playing something while a skeleton comes rushing at me.

From what I can see of David Guyll’s new take on the Bard, it seems more realistic with incorporating how the music should work before or after a battle.

There are several prior iterations floating around in the Tavern, so if they looked like something you might be interested, check it out! 🙂

Anyway, a great many thanks goes out to everyone who either provided feedback or who did some playtesting – its always a true and distinct pleasure to kick ideas around with DW fans.

Folks, I swear I remember a class that was suggested as an alternative to the paladin to use where the authorities were corrupt and not as bound by law. Is this for real or is my memory playing tricks on me?
