Anyone else interested in joining the Snowpocalypse one-shot tonight. We’re live right now and I’ve only got one player. We’ll stay on until around 6:30 or so if anyone else wants to join in.

Hello taverners, I’m prepping to run a DW one-shot that has the potential to expend into a semi-regular campaign with a rotating cast of players. I remember seeing on here in the last few months someone had worked up a system to do a sandbox hexcrawl-type campaign by making a 5×5 grid of index cards with steadings and dangers randomly dealt out, and someone else(?) had put together some information about doing a keep on the borderlands-style thing where the party took some responsibility for a steading and managed it as it grew over the course of the campaign. Both of these ideas seem like a slam dunk for my current needs, but my google-fu appears to be failing me and I can’t find them anywhere. Anyone happen to remember these popping up?

Hello Tavern-goers.

Hello Tavern-goers.

Hello Tavern-goers. A few friends of mine and I have been running a little low-fantasy campaign where the players were all criminal undesirables and the action took place entirely within a giant city. Last session we wrapped up all the fronts I had and we decided that we wanted to keep playing in the setting but re-boot the campaign to allow the characters to sort of take the initiative. They get to plan heists and potentially organize they’re own underworld cartel. To this end we’ve been thinking about re-purposing the steading rules to represent the different districts of the city and track a “rep” stat for each one. Then have one or more custom moves that use a +rep mechanic. So my question to the hivemind would be; what changes, if any, would you make to the steading rules to represent this, and what kinds of custom moves would you want to see to for underworld characters?

Last year I went to a small local board gaming convention in Michigan called DaveCon and ran a few one-shot adventures in DungeonWorld. I got a lot of positive response and I’m planning on doing it again this year. Does anyone know if the DW folks have any branded merchandise or anything that they provide? I’d like to pass some swag out to the players.

So a friend of mine and I are thinking about trying to put together a Space Opera focused hack of Dungeon World. We’re starting off by putting together some core playbooks, we have an idea of what kinds we want to make but we’re having a hard time putting together a coherent set of moves that differentiates each class. Does anybody have any advice on how to build balanced character classes and make good move sets for them?

Ok, instead of just doing the custom moves, maybe its better to just put the whole thing up and letting people judge it as a whole. Please look it over and provide feedback. Also, feel free to use this as is or modify it for your own tastes.

Ok tavern-goers, I’ve run about a dozen one-shots in Dungeon World but this Saturday I’m actually going to run the first session in what is supposed to be a long-running campaign. I’m writing up a campaign starter but I want to poll the hivemind for suggestions because I haven’t done a lot of creation in DW. To start off with I’m going to post up my ideas for adventure-specific custom moves and I’d love feedback and suggestions. The basic idea of the adventure is that they start in a city on the edge of the desert where the royal princess was kidnapped, but there is some kind of intrigue going on because they get tapped to rescue her instead of the palace guard. The rescue mission may or may not lead them to something called the Black Pyramid, which is a big scary ruin filled with lots of fun dangers.

So I see quite a few people asking about one-shot games, but would anyone be interested in starting up and running a semi-regular campaign game over hangouts. I recently discovered Dungeon World and I absolutely love it, but I’m the perennial GM for my group and I’d like to try it out as a player in an ongoing game.
