So someone I play with wants to play a Druid.

So someone I play with wants to play a Druid.

So someone I play with wants to play a Druid. I haven’t had one of those before. The moves are really open ended. Can someone point me to some resources for the following two moves:

Shapeshifter

Studied Essence

For studies essence I don’t understand if they have to meet an animal spirit in the game (in which case I better have some of those) or just meet the animal? Or if they just say “hey man I want to study the grizzly bear spirit” there are no bears around but this is the woods, so that’s cool right?

How do you adjutacate this move. Plus some examples or resources in shapeshifter would be handy.

Peace,

How do you handle your campaign without a Rogue in the party and you want to incorporate traps?

How do you handle your campaign without a Rogue in the party and you want to incorporate traps?

For instance, if a switch is found behind a picture on the wall and it’s supposed to trigger a trap, how is that handled?

Can a non-Rogue character “understand” it’s a trap by investigating further? Can Discern Realities help with this?

Does the non-Rogue have a chance to “disable” the trap? I suppose a character could throw something at the switch from a distance away…

Maybe I’m answering my own question and the narrative helps dictate…

Is there a Drunken Master playbook?

Is there a Drunken Master playbook?

Is this it? Is it good if so?

Otherwise, is there a monk playbook that can be easily flavoured to drunken master (like, by changing just the name of the moves)?

I’m getting ready to run DW for a few newbie RPG players.

I’m getting ready to run DW for a few newbie RPG players. They are huge fans of fantasy literature, however, and have expressed an interest in playing in a world like Robin Hobbs’ Realm of the Elderlings. They are especially interested in exploring the magic systems therein, the Wit and the Skill. Can anyone recommend any playbooks that would be similar to character types you might see in those books? I found Warg, which is kind of close to a Witted person with an animal companion, but doesn’t seem quite right. Thoughts?

A player in my group wanted to play a shapeshifter, but not the Druid.

A player in my group wanted to play a shapeshifter, but not the Druid. He wanted something more feral, heavily influenced by the Navajo skin-walker legends, but not necessarily evil.

Here is the Skinwalker. I cobbled it together, inspired by/borrowing from the core Druid, the Druid playbook from David Guyll and Melissa Fisher, and the Slayer compendium class from Class Warfare by Johnstone Metzger. I have heavily re-flavored the moves I borrowed from the Slayer class to feel more feral, and less soldierly. I also reworked the skin-walker move to be a little more structured.

For those that are not familiar with the skin-walker legends, typical powers of a skin-walker are shapeshifting into the form of animals, increased strength, increased dexterity, increased speed, and regeneration. I tried to incorporate some aspect of each of these in this playbook.

Let me know what you think!

My daughter is looking for a non-Druid playbook that can talk too and is very good with animals. Any suggestions?
