Hello fine folks.

Hello fine folks.

Hello fine folks. I hope you are having a great weekend (and a great holiday if you are in the US). I have been working on new playbooks that are a take on the old specialist magic-users. Here is the first one I have drafted. It still needs some work (racials, bonds, drives) but I would love your feedback and suggestions.

The Illusionist (Edit: Renamed Spectrumancer and updated)

Can someone tell me what version of InDesign will open the Dungeon World character sheet templates on github?

Can someone tell me what version of InDesign will open the Dungeon World character sheet templates on github?

Can someone tell me what version of InDesign will open the Dungeon World character sheet templates on github? Or is there an alternative to using InDesign to create your own class? I know for certain CS6 will not open them. Thanks for any help or advice.

Anyone know where I can find a “World” game that is the sci-fi space travel type genre?

Anyone know where I can find a “World” game that is the sci-fi space travel type genre? Would be really interested to see what options are out there.  I know there is a Star Wars ruleset somewhere out there, but I would rather have a more grim or realistic style.

Thanks!

Two questions related to the Cleric spell “Bless”

Two questions related to the Cleric spell “Bless”

Two questions related to the Cleric spell “Bless”

1. If you cast the spell on yourself, do you still have -1 to casting, or does the +1 from Bless cancel out the -1. If so, doesn’t that make this spell a little… exceptionally good for The Cleric to cast on himself every fight?

2. Can someone ever gain higher than a +3 to a roll, with the help of effects like Bless?

The Thief.

The Thief.

The Thief. Why do I feel like this class is sort of lackluster in light of the others? Help me change my mind. I want to love it. I guess I don’t see a lot of appeal. Some of the moves seem to be things any other character could do anyway (to do it, do it) like throwing a weapon (Strong Arm, True Aim).

Alternately, I would love to see Thief Variants: What are your favorites? I have seen the City Thief. Are there others out there you recommend looking at? Compendium classes etc?

Question on multiclass casters.

Question on multiclass casters.

Question on multiclass casters. If you have the Wizard and Cleric spellcasting abilities, do you also have two sets of “memorized” spell slots or do you have the same set of slots and just need to share space in it for both types of spells? I am guessing you just have more options, not more memorized spells. Had this question come up from a player and wasn’t certain. Thanks.

Question: How do you handle specific wounds to Player Characters?

Question: How do you handle specific wounds to Player Characters?

Question: How do you handle specific wounds to Player Characters? In most RPGs you just hand wave wounds as superficial until you hit 0 HP. How do you handle it in DW? Do you say… damage the arm of a PC and then say it hangs limp? Damage the leg of the PC, indicating they will be slowed down?

Do you only do this on messy attacks? Only on 6- or also on 7-9?

Just trying to get a feel for how others do this. It seems the spirit of DW is that you can make the attack move do whatever you want more or less (disarm, knock down, trip, grapple, destroy equipment, etc) All feedback, suggestions, or advice welcomed. Thanks!

Help, how do I determine what is or isn’t common player character knowledge in a fantasy world?

Help, how do I determine what is or isn’t common player character knowledge in a fantasy world?

Help, how do I determine what is or isn’t common player character knowledge in a fantasy world?

For example, do I assume that every PC knows that Trolls hate fire and regenerate? What about lycanthropes and silver? How to make a proper offering to a fey creature? How to build and use siege weapons?

So far I’ve been asking “Ok, tell us how you know” and then calling for Spout Lore. But there seems to be an opinion in the group that a lot of knowledge should be freely given.

How do you handle this? Where do you draw the line? Am I being too stingy with knowledge?
