I recall that there was a playbook that was winter wizard based or very similar in nature.

It may have been an ice version of the immolater.

Does anyone know where I might find it?

I like the concept and want to peruse it and add it to my library.

Also, my daughter thought it sounded cool.

Someone mentioned that the Band Chimera had a new album out called Corwn of Phantoms.

Sounds like a kick ass magic item to me.

How many cool ideas can we scrounge together from various metal albums or band names?

Places, the names of Dungeons, Magic items?

Crown of Phantoms

The Crown and the Ring

Darkthrone

The Last Spire

The list goes on forever.

What have you got?

Are there any products out there that are suited for use with and around Dungeon World?

For example, how useful would Vornheim be with DW?

Are there any system neutral, kit style products that can act as good references for ideas, tables and the like?

Oh my god.

Oh my god.

Oh my god.

Poison soaked, fluffy white rabbits used to volley.

Giant, three headed, fire breathing, elemental stone snake.

Deadly, deep elf assassins.

My players finally came to the conclusion that braiding together the intestines of their fallen enemies and trying to use “gut rope” to escape the dungeon by rappelling down a hundred foot pit was the best idea, and preferable to sticking around to see what was on level two.

Best game ever.

Ever.

I need the DW equivalent of the Warforged and the Artificer.

I know that i have seen it mentioned, but can not seem to google it up, since i can’t recall the names.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just bought a hard copy from the FLGS.

I just bought a hard copy from the FLGS.

Why? I mean the digital version i bought is enough.

The answer lies in the game i played with my 9 year old daughter on Thanksgiving.

Not only did she get to really contribute in ways that she could easily understand without being overwhelmed by the mechanics, she also showed me that wizards are dangerous.

She played a wizard that cast magic missiles that looked like the blue, luminescent tracks of a Bobcat. She broke her staff while breaking the neck of a troll that dared to attack her and didn’t rate high enough of a threat to her to bother using magic on it.

She fought trolls in hand to hand combat, and won.

She never blinked, she never asked about her role, she never even considered that her wizard, who was named Freeze, should not wade into melee and use her magic to blast things from close up.

When the character got hurt, she did not bemoan the soft, fleshy body of her wizard, or complain about her HP…instead, she thought about how badly she might want to kill that troll that was attacking her…and then risked her characters life to take it down and help save her fellow adventurers.

All that with no prep, no great time spent explaining the rules, and she stayed focused, interested and invested in her character. She was absolutely shining with excitement when she got to mark XP.

That is why i bought a hard copy.

This game is bad ass.

I convinced my sons and nephew to try out DW with me. My first attempt.

In ten minutes, we established that there were a fighter, a wizard, and a rogue in their party.

The wizard is the long lost heir to an empire, but does not know. The Fighter is his sworn protector, and the rogue is using the wizard to pull con jobs, while trying to keep secret the fact that he stole the wizard’s heirloom magic crystal.

They populated their corner of the world map with a plain of ash inhabited by trolls, a river that transforms anyone that swims in it into fish, and a forest of mostly carnivorous trees.

I put them in a coach, travelling towards the river to collect samples for an old man, wise in the way of alchemy.

Crossbow bolts killed their driver, killed one horse and crippled the other three. Their ride was crashed, and they had to fight their way out of an ambush by goblin bandits.

We went from zero experience to a complex set up, to an In Media Res launch, to a complete first encounter in under an hour.

Not counting the time we took to eat noodles.

Although after the embush, game play slowed down considerably.

With one horse dead, and three wounded they took their time figuring out what to do about the animals.

Eventually, they euthanized the one they knew was suffering the most, and then the human wizard used his cleric spell to heal the other two.

I was impressed with the way they role played compassionate characters.

That moment was imediately ruined when that same wizard used a cantrip to make one dead horse taste like beef, and the other to taste like chicken.

They then camped over night, served themselves giant steaks of artifically flavored horse meat, and started makign plans about what to do in the morning.

I really should have put serious pressure on them, maybe introduce predators or more bandits curious why their friends never returned, etc. But i was so caught up in their intricate horse buffet plans that i just rolled with it.

Maybe not the most heroic first session, but they gave me plenty to work with, and it was fun.
