How do you run the Catacombs? Do you draw a map according to the area move rolled? Do you simply wave this not drawing anything while having an understanding at the table that they can backtrack (with some chance of getting lost, if thet did not take any precautions)? I’m curious, and I’m not sure yet how I’ll procede.

Not a typo, but something about the dungeon theme countdown should probably be clarified.

Not a typo, but something about the dungeon theme countdown should probably be clarified. Perilous Wilds p. 54 and p. 56 says that they depend on the dungeon’s size, but I can’t find anything about it on p. 55. Reading the example and looking at the templates in the Survival Kit, I assume that the number of themes is also the countdown for each of them, but it’s not clearly written.

Thanks!

I find the quartermaster role in the Undertake a Perilous Journey move redundant with the trailblazer, and less interesting. Getting to destination faster means something tangible in the fiction (and also means less rations consumed), but consuming less rations means just that.

I’m thinking about changing this role with something else, maybe scavenger or hunter. On a 10+, you find something useful or intruiguing (poultices and herbs, a hip bone etched with runes, some rare berries worth 10 coin, whatever). O a 7-9, nothing out of the ordinary.

What do you think?

If anyone is interested, I finished my french translation of all the original 9 base classes (Barbarian, yes, but no Immolator, sorry!)

There are also sheets to help players create their character (one 2-sided half-page per class) and a sheet with all the basic and advanced moves, complete with an equipment section and a short description of some frequent but unintuitive tags.

Comments welcome!

(I also put my alternative base classes in there.)

If there are some french speaking people around here, I just made a two-sided move sheet adapted from Magi max’ ones.

A quick way to decide if the PCs are attacked during camp (when you don’t want to decide yourself) :

Roll a dice (any one; bigger means less probable, smaller more probable) and if the number on it is the number of characters in the party (PC and NPC), there is an attack. Ask for a Take Watch roll, maybe from the PC who was at this place is the watch order (so ask the first one if you roll a 1, the second if you roll a 2, etc.)

Anyone had players judge DW to have “vague” rules?

Anyone had players judge DW to have “vague” rules?

Anyone had players judge DW to have “vague” rules? We played 3 sessions (monthly or so) and it was fun, but the rules did not click for 2 out of 4 players. One of them is very fond of elaborate mechanics (he’s a power gamer, but in a good way), and the other told me that “as weird as it sounds, I like rules telling me what I can’t do” and so that DW was too “wild” for his taste. Since I love DW, I’m a bit disappointed, but I’m not trying to convince him otherwise. We’ll go back to our D&D game (a 3.5 edition game we’ll convert to 5th), where I am a PC, not the DM.

Anyone want to share experiences or thoughts about this?

Here is the updated spreadsheet I made with all the monsters from the core book.

Here is the updated spreadsheet I made with all the monsters from the core book. Now, if someone knows how to make something automatically take the info from the monsters a user want and print something similar to what is in the core book, that would be really nice! (I don’t know how to do it; I don’t even know if that’s possible to do from a spreadsheet.)

It now contains the “kind-of-power-level” category that I was asking about in the first place (it did not seem to exist, so I did one). It’s not perfect, but I’m fairly happy with it.

If you wanted an easy way to group monsters by basically any tags they have (Horde, Messy, Organized, etc.), here is a google spreadsheet I made. I made a “Combat Level” (CL) classification. Use it if you like it!

Suggestions and comments welcome!

[EDIT : I modified the link to lead to the last version of the spreadsheet with the CL. The older link won’t work.]
