A Clever Chest is an enchanted treasure chest, vault or other container, or perhaps a highly trained, loyal mimic.

Instinct: To keep their precious contents safe

– Scuttle off when touched

– Lead them into a trap

– Wail to attract other dungeon denizens

GM, choose one hard move it possesses:

– Spew poisonous smog

– Fire arrows wildly

– Grasp with freakish arms

– Take to the air

– Pour forth flaming oil

I don’t have that much to talk about really, just throwing my hat back in the ring, hmm… Ah, I’m going to make up some new Compendium Classes for fun, you can have a look if you like.

However, main thing is, use this thread to tell me what you’re up to! Advertise, whatever, go for it!

Hey guys, I went to this site and made a neat generator!

Hey guys, I went to this site and made a neat generator!

Mine is “Oh no! A monster in the dungeon!”. Please give it a whirl.

It can get silly, but some of the generated outcomes rock for how little it took to make it. Seriously, pretty much everyone here should make one.

Lets have a quick game while I’m on the train.

Make a simple god/devil/force of nature for Dungeon World. I don’t want stats, just moves and an instinct. Gods are above HP.

I’ll start:

Plodleer, Baroness of Slime & Ageing

Instinct: claim things old as is her right

– Vomit up something ancient

– Swallow up a forgotten place

– Excrete a slimy horde of undead soldiers

– Make it rust, erode or rot

Staphalopagon, Thane of Careful Exploration & Handy Gear

Instinct: covet rare and unique treasures

– Pull a ten foot pole, length of rope or other useful item from nowhere

– Light a torch or lantern that has run out of fuel

– Spring a dungeon’s trap with a whistle

– Steal a small object from them without getting close

Quonder, Agent of Identity & Mystery

Instinct: avoid the gaze of the elder things

– Fluidly change from race to race, gender to gender

– Offer the chance of a new life in return for service

– Vanish without a trace

– Steal their face as retribution

In a shattered world of floating islands slowly being dragged into the open maw of an alien dimension, who will stand against the Empress of Carnage and the unknowable forces that guide her insane plans?

Rhodon, haunted vines wrapped around a skull Druid

Trejo, igneous rock asura Barbarian

She East of the Wood, the last free goblin Ranger / True Smith

Van Caine, bulldog-man Gladiator / Warrior Poet

Yggsieg, horned shaggy giant Cleric / Merry Maker

Sansa thing from beyond possessing a baroness Wizard

This is what happens when you say “you can be anything”.

They each ride a “scream-wing”, a sort of giant bat. They wear fantasy equivalents to biker leathers.

We’ve only played one session, most of it was world building and map drawing.

Still, somehow Yggsieg and Trejo managed to collapse a tower. Van Caine leapt from his scream-wing mid-flight and elbow dropped a “sky-dancer” (giant dragonfly used by the evil empire) into a lake. She East of the Wood (Shewie for short) shot an antagonist off a balcony with her “gonne” before he could even get a word in. Rhodon and Sansa showed alarming efficiency at wasting unfortunate plague mutants; Rhodon shifted into a scorpion and Sansa made sure he stayed invisible as often as possible.

As a GM, I’m very afraid. But this campaign is going to be legendary among us! I can feel it already!

Well that was a long post, one more thing, rather than drawing a big map, every island gets drawn on different little bits of paper, and they’re going to move around each session. Should make traveling interesting!

This might get long, please bear with it!

This might get long, please bear with it!

This might get long, please bear with it! I just had this idea a moment ago while I was out running and have no where else better to put it. It goes a little something like this:

You and your friends decide to start a new Dungeon World campaign/one-shot and think it’d be fun if it was a bit more lethal. Nothing too out there, just an extra degree or so of damage being taken per fight.

Now, dying more often means players are out of the game for a while, sometimes for up to half an hour, right?

What if… When you die during combat, the DM gives you control of a monster for the remainder of the battle. You have access to only the Basic Moves and this monster’s list of Monster Moves.

When you commit to a Monster Move, roll+THREAT.

On a 10+, you do it.

On a 7-9, you can do it, at cost or with consequences.

On a 6-, you mess up, foul fiend! Huzzah!

Threat is the only stat a player controlled monster has (used for all moves), and is made up on the spot/from a basic list. A goblin is -1 Threat. An orc is 0 Threat. A troll is 1 Threat. A giant is 2 Threat. A dragon is 3 Threat.

The player who’s character is dead now role-plays as a monster, out to harm the other players and further a Front. Like a mini GM really. The monster they’re controlling is likely to die soon too; in fact, they should be a target of the party since they’re more dangerous than an ordinary monster, however I think it could be a fun diversion.

Once the party reach town/a moment of peace, that player gets to roll up a new character as usual. I really think with the right people it could be awesome.

Penny for your thoughts, tavernites?

EPIC LEVEL! DUNGEON WORLD! YEAH!

EPIC LEVEL! DUNGEON WORLD! YEAH!

EPIC LEVEL! DUNGEON WORLD! YEAH!

I haven’t made use of any of these moves, but I had a spare 15 minutes and wanted to mess around with the idea.

Feel free to take any of these for your game. Here’s one of them:

Witchfinder, Demonslayer

When you kill someone in the presence of their loved ones or peers, roll+CHA.

On a 10+, choose two.

On a 7-9, choose one.

– Convince them of the deceased’s guilt, whether true or fabricated.

– They back-down, stand in shock or flee, for now.

– Gain an ally, their long held grudge revealed.

– Rumour spreads to nearby steadings that you slayed a villain most foul.
