So, I’ve learned that at least one of my players is on here, so as a preventative measure, If the phrase “Sheridan the bear-wrestling Mermaid” brings tears to your eyes, best to give this post a pass.

So, my players are fighting a demigoddess, and for reasons kinda hard to explain (rooted in the weird lore) I wanted her to have 5 demonic lieutenants. I have one so far, a shapeshifting infiltrator/ mind controller. and I know I also want a “Warmaster” type guy, but I still need three, and I’ve found that crowd sourcing ideas is usually pretty good. so just putting out feelers for ideas.

  1. How about the classic “Seducer”.  Then there is also “The Converter”.  and the lowly but still important “Task Master” who controls the workers, laborers, slaves and servants.  With any being of power they also have Advisors.  Depending on how big you get you can also have them specialize: Magic, War, Invention..Things like that

  2. 1) One who’s horribly ugly, tough as all hell (regenerates?), smells bad, and drags their broken form around, and is kinda of blunt and straightforward, but wields really powerful, destructive death magic.

    2) One who flies around on a magic carpet, flinging fireballs, dressed in ratty clothes, plagued with these uncontrollable, unearthly hiccup-screams that can be heard for miles around.

    3) A weather mage, who calls in storms, winds, earthquakes, blasts of sand, etc. She’s got a bit of a temper, but is otherwise nondescript.

    4) The demigoddess’s sister, who consumes souls and their knowledge and personalities and speaks with their many different voices, one after another. Totally unpredictable, but really powerful magic.

(Yes, these are basically The Limper, Howler, Stormbringer, and Soulcatcher from the Black Company.)

  3. Well, it sounds like you’ve got a lurker (stealth/infiltration), a soldier/leader (the warmaster), and (with Chris Longhurst’s idea) a controller.

Add artillery and a brute and you’ve got the main five rolls from 4e D&D, which is a pretty solid mix.

So… non-mage artillery… how about a flying head, dragging around a mass of entrails, howling horrible curses at people. Except it “throws” its voice… you don’t hear anything right near her, but the curses erupt as horrible shrieking blasts anywhere she can see.

Brute? Great big ape-demon. Leaps into the fray, grabs, smashes, rends. Like a barlgura: http://cdn.miniaturemarket.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/D/O/DOD44_2.jpg

  4. so, my cast so far:

Seirxacht, a shapeshifter/mind controller who has been with Einora since the beginning of her deific ambitions (and is the reason for them. he is her most valued advisor and the head of the infiltrators.

Ceoban, a mass possesor she has summoned to be her prophets, and for chaotic massacres, ala the sons of the harpy at the great games of Mereen

Fhurolon: a six-armed demon who is intended to lead her armies, a skilled military commander, but otherwise just a brute.

Jeslei, technically not a demon, she is a mortal whose life has been extended by her sword. she was scorned by her beloved, and so decided to slay the god of love (who eventually did get replaced), so she acquired a sword made of divine ore, and did so. She works for The Lady of Treason because she lost part of her sword (sundered in battle with another deity ontent upon avenging the god of love), and The Lady has promised to return the shards to her.

and a demon prince of destruction for the artillery.
