New Classes Call to Submission

I’m happy to announce the winners for our little New Classes friendly contest.

We have recieved a lot of submissions, and many of them were really great.

Due to a little technical problem we can only use THREE classes instead of the four announced in the last days.

It’s a shame, but… we have ideas for the many wonderful classes left out, and news could follow in the next days or weeks. Stay tuned.

Two of the three chosen classes will be used for the manual itself, while the third will be widly distributed as promotional material.

So, let’s go to the point and congratulate with:

THE KOBOLD by Shadi Alhusary

Elected to represent all the “monstrous classes” this little critter is full of potential, both dramatic and tactical. With great fictional triggers and plenty of motivation the Kobold could change the way you look at the small and downtrodden of Dungeon World

THE SPELLSLINGER by Adrian Thoen

This wand wielding cowboy is a perfect mix of weird fantasy, trope mixing and sheer badassery. It is guaranteed to extend your fiction outside the classical fantasy border and to help you devise strange, new world to explore.

THE WITCH by Jacob Randolph

Not just a woman with a broomstick and potions, but a new and exciting way to use tags in your characters. She could be good ad heart or wicked, but the The Witch will fill a void in the setting, expanding magic beyond wands and robes and the system beyond dice and damage, remembering everyone what powerful tools those little tags are.

The selected designers have already been contacted for the last legal technicalities.

I would like to congratulate with everyone who submitted their class or classes in the last weeks. They gave us plenty of motivation and ideas for this reprint of one of the best games around.

Thank you all and stay tuned!

2nd Edition, Extra Classes

Some of you may rememeber this old post of mine: https://plus.google.com/+EzioMelega/posts/S512QZ6RDqc

Yes, it has been a long time since I posted about it, but the ebbs and flows of typographic work are truly treacherous and imprevedible. I beg your pardon for my lateness.

Let’s refresh your collective memory.

Narrattiva is making a second edition of Dungeon World in Italian.

This new edition will bring a lot of changes from the old edition: handier format, with external graphic that will not fail to recall some old manual of the dungeonesque and dragonesque persuasion, Inverse World published besides the basic Dungeon World and so on.

Long story short: we would like to publish some new classes with it.

FOUR total classes.

Two will be published with the manual, two will be reserved for exclusive promotional material (someone said “color”? I don’t know, I cannot hear well from here).

I’ve recieved a lot of submission since my last post. Most are very well written, some are really wonderful.

Two of my personal favourites are The Kobold from Shadi Alhusary (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/131904/The-Kobold-A-Dungeon-World-Playbook) and The Spellslinger by Adrian Thoen (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/112749/The-Spellslinger–A-Dungeon-World-Playbook), just to give you examples of the high quality of the submissions we recieved.

We still have a few days before starting the translation and adaptation process, so, if you want to partecipate, you can send your classes to italianDW2@gmail.com

As always I cannot offer anything concrete to the selected author(s). There isn’t a “prize”, there isn’t any concrete compensation for being chosen. What I can promise is your class published in a classy, gorgeus edition of the game, fully credited to you, and the little honor and glory that comes from beign, after all, a translated game designer (or not, if you are from Italy).

A few days left. italianDW2@gmail.com. Honor and glory in Italy.

Can you raise to it?

A Call To Arms from ITALIAN DUNGEON WORLD

So, here we are, the people at Narrattiva

Time to reprint the Italian edition of Dungeon World for Lucca Comics&Games 2014. The reprinting will be an occasion to tinker on something, rethink some layouts, graphic and contents.

One of the things we would like to change in the new edition are the extra classes. The first edition had The Dashing Hero, the Sorcerer and the Shaman, and we would like to change them, to offer new possibilities to the Italian players. The old classes were great, we would like to offer something new that will be even greater.

So: we are searching for new classes to use.

If you have written a class, maybe playtested it and, most definetevely finished it (no work in progess, please), you can send it to italiandw2@gmail.com (or even in the comments of this thread, or to me in private).

We will select 3 or 4 classes from those submitted here and in other internet places, like the Italian Tavern, the ones we like the most, the most innovative, the best suited for the Italian market, and the selected ones will be published as part of the new Italian edition, with you fully credited as the author.

I cannot really promise anything, not even a concrete reward beside that little fame and glory you will get, but I think that the satisfaction of seeing your material published in a foreigner language could be worth the effort.

So… to arms, third part designers! Who wants to be known as “that one who had his class translated in the extremely cool Italian edition”?
