Does anyone have access to (and know the legalities of using) the Dungeon World “DW logo” for a commercial product?
I’d love to include it on my upcoming zine.

Coming soon: Session Zero zine
Very close to being finished: 1 more piece of content, then a couple days away from it before some editing. Then it’ll be a while before I publish while slogging through layout.
Here’s a first draft cover of what will be Issue 1: The Smoldering Swamp of my zine called Session Zero, coming soon as PWYW on DTRPG.
Inspired by, but not a slave to The Fire Swamp found in The Princess Bride (This is Dungeon World after all, not Fairy Tale World)
Teaser:
Maximillian’s Miracle Medicine
A small, roughly spherical ball that looks like pure chocolate. It comes in a small leather pouch branded with the words “Maximillian’s Miracle Medicine”.
When you’re mostly dead and someone pops a Maximillian’s Miracle Medicine ball into your mouth, you start to regain consciousness, but you’re very weak. You gain half half your starting hit points and take all six debilities. Over time, those debilities start to disappear as you regain your strength, wits, etc.

Yochai Gal, It took longer to get to it then I intended, but I’ve created google docs for the content I copied and pasted out of the SRD and linked them in the Travel Kit / Resource Binder. Now the only things on the list that don’t have links are the pages I printed directly out of the PDF.
Here’s the link again for anyone who missed it before or is interested:

I don’t want to hijack someone else’s thread, so I made a new post about this.
I don’t want to hijack someone else’s thread, so I made a new post about this. The thread is about things you don’t like about Dungeon World, and a couple of people have mentioned that Spout Lore seem pretty weak.
I’ll take flack for this, since it’s about what people feel are the worst things about DW, but I actually think (that is to say, In My Opinion) Spout Lore is the most powerful in the game because it’s tied so closely to the fiction; it offers a fantastic way to exploit your prep.
Characters are trudging through knee-high muck in the swamp (I have swamp on my brain because I’m working on a Smoldering Swamp) and you describe a splash not far off (portraying a situation that requires action). EDIT: Then ask “What do you do?”
The player can either just continue on his way and give you a Golden Opportunity or move away from that area, or trigger a Spout Lore (or something else too… just play to find out what happens).
Player asks what his character knows about the swamp. Sure, that’s Spout Lore, roll + INT.
10+ , “The swamp is teeming alligators with razor sharp teeth. They’re incredibly difficult to spot until their jaws are closing in around you…” (because they are stealthy) “…and snakes large and small slither along the cypress branches hanging over the water.”
(You’ve told them something interesting an useful about what they may find while they’re trudging through the muck: Alligators they can’t see and large & small snakes that may be falling into the water)
7-9, “There are lots of creatures in the swamp that live in or near it’s stagnant waters”
(Here, they know the sound was some kind a creature entering the water, but without any clue as to what it is they may decide to keep trudging along. It’s interesting, but up to them to make it useful)
6-, “There are lots of creatures in the swamp that live in or near it’s stagnant waters”
Yeah, that’s the same thing I’d tell them on a 7-9, but I’m going to think off screen too and put an alligator right next to them.
(Now, whether they jump out of the knee-high water or not, they’ve got a hungry alligator waiting to strike)

Here’s another addition to my DW Travel Kit / GM Resource Binder:
This is a one-page distillation of pages 158 – 162 of Chapter 13 – The GM, consisting of the sections for How to GM, Agenda, and Principles.
Pages 163 – 170 regarding Moves and When/How to use them is coming soon, maybe as early as this time tomorrow.
I have highlighted the parts that are most important to me, but I can create a link to a copy that doesn’t have any highlighting if that’s desired.

I’m working on some content based on The Princess Bride, and this very day I’ve seen Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) on Criminal Minds, Cary Elwes (Westley) on an episode of Leverage, and now my girlfriend is watching Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck) is the main suspect.
I’m going to take that as a sign of… something… lol

With inspiration from DWT (Ray Otus, Logan Howard, Jason Cordova and Mark Tygart to name a few) I think I’m going to try my hand at a zine (we’ll see how the first issue goes at least).
I get all of my inspiration from video games, books, movies, etc., and I’d like your opinions. I LOVE and am passionate about all three of them, so this is really just to gauge interest.
Which of these would you like to see covered in the first issue of my zine?
Here’s a section of the map for a Starter I’m working on called “The Last Fairy Tale”.
Here’s a section of the map for a Starter I’m working on called “The Last Fairy Tale”. Yeah it’s totally Final Fantasy; the FIRST Final Fantasy (with some embellishments)!
I made this map using Inkarnate (http://inkarnate.com/)
My son likes his Wizard character but also likes to try different things with him.
My son likes his Wizard character but also likes to try different things with him. So I used my Out of the frying pan… (Skyrim) primer and we spent so much time working on the new world that we didn’t even get a chance play. But here are his answers to the questions. Note that A) he is VERY familiar with Skyrim, but went out of his way to come up with some very non-Skyrim answers and B) he’s only 15 (well, he turns 15 in three weeks)!
What did you do that you are here to be executed with these criminals?
Elf Wizard: Teril – Accused of wizardry in a large wealthy kingdom (Koisinhelm) where magic is illegal. The King’s daughter (Forith) has disappeared and Teril was accused of it. Magic is illegal because of a magical disaster that occurred centuries ago, destroying half the city. It was caused by a High Elf (magical) Wizard who was Teril’s grandfather: Galothor.
Why is this method of execution generally considered a distaseful death?
Bound by melithian (known for it’s magic-quelling properties) cuffs, and being hacked to death by a dull melithian hatchet is a slow, painful death.
Who is it that has the authority to execute you?
Execution for magic use is demanded by the citizens. It’s a long standing tradition that even the king can’t alter, despite the fact that his daughter is missing. It would be a simple task for Teril to find her, even if he’s not guilty. The citizens would revolt if he attempted to change this law.
Who is that famous (or infamous) person bound along with you?
Human Nomad named Tildur
Why is that person here to be executed along with the rest of you?
Out of fear he may destroy the world. His power was granted to him by the Orb of Urofiviel which he discovered while travelling the roads. He inadvertently destroyed a small portion of the forest kingdom while tapping into it’s power.
What type of legendary beast or creature interrupted the executions?
A sun-like beam of light blinded everyone in it’s radius and when their vision cleared an Angelic Figure wearing Sleek Platinum armor warned of the evils awakened by the Orb’s explosion. As it was speaking a Melithian Golem smashed through several ancient trees into the execution area. A whisper from the Angelic Figure in a language unknown to all present evaporated the melithian that made up the cuffs, hatchet and Golem, it’s magic well beyond the ability of the melithian to quell.
What was foretold would happen when the Orb resurfaced after so many centuries?
Powerful creatures thought long extinct or banished will begin to reappear and threaten the entire world.
Who was it that freed you from your bonds?
The Angelic Figure (obviously lol)
What type of structure or area was nearby that you were lead to for safety?
The Angelic Figure guided them to the portion of the city ruined centuries ago before returning to destroy more of the creatures that made their way in.
Where can you go to learn more about the Prophecy?
The wielder of knowledge (the holder of the Orb) must seek the greedy and mischievous demonic Librarians on the Plane of Knowledge – Sunnivar
NOTES:
The King’s daughter Forith really disappeared along a road while secretly carrying the Orb of Urofiviel through the forest kingdom. This was the road where Tildur discovered it.

When you need to grind to reach the next level or have enough coin to buy that thing you want, roll+your worst modifier, use all of the party’s rations, and everyone in the party reduces their current HP to 1d6. On 10+ choose 1. On 7-9 choose 2. On 6-, do all three.
*Everyone in the party gains enough XP to reach the next level
*Everyone in the party gains 5d10 coin
*You’re able to Make Camp in a safe place
OK, this is actually something that I would NOT do in Dungeon World, but I just spent 45 minutes grinding on Final Fantasy 1 on my NES Classic for enough gold to buy 3 level 1 spells for both my Black and White Mages.
Still, it was a fun move to write, and it could use some polish. Keep in mind this is tongue-in-cheek and not meant to be a super efficient DW move (although I CAN picture one of my players saying he just wants to reach the next level lol). Any thoughts?
