This is amazing.

This is amazing.  I printed these out and assembled these booklets last night.  I can’t believe I’ve been running DW without this.  All of the important items you need to look-up (minus the monsters) are contained in a handy stapled booklet.  It includes:

+  COMPLETE tag reference…OMG so handy!

+  Equipment costs and stats (including weapons and armor)

+  GM Principles and Moves

+  Monster generation rules

+  4 Front record sheets

+  Copious space for campaign notes

+  100 Knacks and 100 Characteristics for NPCs

Do not run DW without this!  All for the low-low price of FREE!  🙂  +Michael Wright, you are a genius.

I hope they are useful (and legible) to everyone.

Inverse World mechanics preview! I know you #DungeonWorld  folks love new playbooks.

Jacob Randolph wrote all of the moves here; we worked together on concepts and ideas, but this is 101% his doing and it is amazing.

The Lantern is the “mage” or “cleric” of Inverse World, but its magic is heavily tied into the setting. They are named for the portion of Sola that follows them around and can be coaxed or harassed into working its magic. They are also known as Lanterns because they serve as a guiding light to others, a symbol of the mortal ability to commune with the divine.

You can check out the first page here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?qh3wdwlhv0odd78

It includes everything except names since we haven’t done that yet. You’ll note it has Drives instead of Alignment and Source of Light instead of race, just like I mentioned in the previous post.

I might preview a few more playbooks along the line, along with information on how they fit into the setting and why they make up the core class collection.

Time to return to my Dungeon World Single Sessions.

Time to return to my Dungeon World Single Sessions. We last left the party in a ruined temple deep within an un-natural swamp teeming with hostile creatures. We will complete this quest and begin a new one so new players are very welcome.

No Dungeon World experience required. We use Roll20 so visit http://roll20.net/ and make a free account. Looking forward to see some returning players.

Thought I’d share these Character Portraits I made after our first session.

Thanks DW!

I’m sure this has come up somewhere but I’m too lazy to look for it myself.

I’m sure this has come up somewhere but I’m too lazy to look for it myself. How are healing potions handled in DW? I improvised and let the players roll 2D8, keeping the highest.

How do you guys play Take Watch?  By the rule, the player only rolls if “something approaches the camp”, but there’s no advice about how it should be determined if something does.  I guess, by the rules, after the characters decide their watch order and bed down, they players probably look at the DM to hear what happens next, so it’s time for a DM move.  DM decides whether to attack the characters, decides what time of night it happens, then that player rolls Take Watch.

It feels kind of arbitrary, though.  Does anyone use Wandering Monster tables for this?  Or any other, more clever kinds of randomization?
