If you haven’t seen these before, Stonetop is a DW setting centered around a remote village. The PCs are the heroes of that village in a time of turmoil, adventuring to put down threats to their home and seize opportunities.

This is my take on a warlord-style class, one that leans pretty heavily on the Follower rules as well as the Steading Moves. You’ve got a lot of power in your crew, but the crew is part of Stonetop’s community and (hopefully) not just something you sacrifice willy-nilly.

Using Inverse World classes in DW

Using Inverse World classes in DW

Using Inverse World classes in DW

I’ve been playing the Golem in a conventional DW game and having a lot of fun with it.  The only real restriction in DW has been the lack of repair kits has made the Composition option ‘Putty’ too expensive – if he took it he could only be healed by magic (not potions) and magic healing is too scarce in DW to make that worth it.

Anyone else used Inverse Word classes in conventional DW games?

If so, how’s it gone?

Did you have to change anything to get it to work in conventional DW? If so, what?

I remember seeing a monster hunter class that was all about having an in depth encyclopaedic knowledge of monsters…

Can anyone lend me a hand 🙂 ?

This is the town’s nature “priest,” a sort of shaman/druid/cleric. I had a dickens of a time figuring out what, exactly, I wanted it to be.  The Stonetop setting is meant to be fairly low (or subtle) magic for the PCs, at least to start.  You won’t find any of the playbooks shapeshifting or casting magic missiles.

As it is, there are two fairly different versions of this playbook, and I’m really interested to hear folks’ opinions about which one they prefer. The first is a “standard” class, where pretty much all the class’s schticks come from their moves.  The second is closer to a spellcaster, but with “secret marks” instead of spells.

So, anyhow… have a look and let me know what you think.

Cheers!

Hey folks.

Hey folks.

Hey folks.

I have a player who selected the Mage. They’re used to D&D-style prepared casters, so they’re kinda floundering with how open the spell casting is. On top of that, they think the choose 1 on 10+ and choose 2 on 7-9 makes them seem incompetent.

I realize the 10+ one is there to balance out how versatile the move is, but with such an unhappy player I’d like to see if there’s any way to “fix” things.

I was thinking either something based on the Bard’s Arcane Art, or finding a way to make the choose 1 optional for a small boost.

Maybe set it up such that a spell affects a single target or a small area, or the Mage can choose 1 and have it affect many targets or a large area. Maybe codifying mechanical effects would help, too.

Any ideas?

This is a heavy armored psionic class. The big thing about the battlemind is that it uses its memories to create weapons in its hands.

I made this months ago but never shared it here.

I made this months ago but never shared it here. So, have a playbook about basketball. As you may have noticed, Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden was a major influence for this thing. Obviously you shouldn’t take this playbook too seriously!

Hey all!

Hey all!

Hey all! Boldly Games just released a new playbook (our first since Grim World). Check it out and let me know what you think!

It’s actually the first of many I’ve been working on and playtesting for awhile. I’m looking forward to finally getting these in front of you in the coming months!
