I wrote a playbook for a monk. I’d love to hear any thoughts that people have. Some of the moves are ones I’ve seen elsewhere that I thought were cool and wanted to incorporate into my playbook, so if I borrowed your move thank you.

I’m hoping to play this in my next campaign, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Intro:

“A symbol of hope, a champion of the innocents, praised by men and women alike, a true hero. In your previous life you were all of these things, but something changed you. You are a knight, but you are also something more… Will you cling to your past, or embrace your newfound unholy powers? Hide your true form, or release the darkness within!”

Credits: I have used a few moves and ideas from the Paladin class. I’ve also borrowed a move from Deios’ Vampire Compendium Class, as well as some ideas from Peter Johansen’s Vampire class.

I also want to thank everyone here, on Discord, and on Reddit for the valuable feedback. If not for you, this class would probably have been a lot less interesting 🙂

30-01-19 edit: Based on feedback from TonyxRd and Magnus_Tesshu I’ve decided to replace the 2 charge moves with new more interesting moves, changed the wording in Need to Feed, and changed Just a Flesh Wound slightly 🙂 (Same link)

Does using a mask obtained with “Doppelganger” prevent the simultaneous use of one coming from “Mask For All Occasions”?

Hey I’ve created a custom class based on a “Fallen Paladin” type character. I’ve already shared it on Reddit, and implemented some feedback from there. Now I’m asking the smartest Dungeon World community 😉

What do you guys and gals think? Any suggestions for major changes, move name changes, switching moves between 1-5 and 6-10, etc? I’m open to anything 🙂

Edit: alright, a LOT has changed since I first posted here, and a lot has changed since version 4, thanks to valuable feedback from Jeremy Strandberg on Discord and an IRL friend. The only thing I don’t like in this version, is that the “racials” feel a bit weak now, but I can live with that, this is a pretty complex class anyway.

Deal Damage is a Crap GM Move

I posted this essay on the G+ back in June of 2017. I still feel this way, and in Stonetop and Homebrew world, have replaced the GM move “Deal damage” with “Hurt them.” It’s not much of a difference, but I find that it better matches how I play.

I tried yesterday using Google+ Exporter, but it only captured ~1200 messages… and nothing between 2013 and 2018. And now the G+ Exporter is no longer working, like, at all, because Google inserted a captcha check for mass downloads.

If you’ve successfully exported the full contents of the Tavern, please let me know. I’d like to be involved in putting an archive in place.
