Created two custom moves for my game tonight.

The first applied only to the druid who had morphed into a massive lion (valiothan)…

When you attempt to forcefully stop an iceworm, Roll+STR.

On a 10+ – you successfully redirect its movement, preventing it from going under.

On a 7-9 – You may pick 2…

– You avoid taking damage

– The iceworm does not re-enter the water

– You do not fall into the water yourself.

—–

The second was for the players choosing to convert their sea-vessel into an ice vessel…

When you drag a ship out of water, designate one leader to roll. That leader will choose how he (or she) leads the others efforts.

Roll+Relevant Stat (the player explained how they would work with the others)

On a 10+ The ship is fine, and stable on the ice.

On a 7-9 The ship is up on the ice, but choose one…

1. The ship is on its side, and moves slowly

2. The ice is fragile & dangerous.

3. The ship is damaged irreparably, and will never sail again.

4. You attract unwanted attention

All the players who helped got to roll to aid, but only the best roll was used. The rest simply fed into the narrative.

Just wanted to quickly share a great “Defy Danger + Cha” roll that was used in my game last Thursday.

We were working a Dwarven Cleric into our party, and had spent some time figuring out how he ended up in a market place. After a series of questions, the Cleric revealed that the head of the Market was a very tall woman who “took a liking” to him. He described her as tall, tough, and not particularly pretty, but with “a beautiful singing voice”.

It turned out to be a somewhat uncomfortable engagement (“awww, my little dwarfy-warfy” kind of fawning), and the Cleric eventually sought out the help of our Wizard in making his escape. One invisibility spell later, and he was hiding in the trees when she released the hounds.

There was a poor attempt to distract the dogs, followed by a poor attempt to scare her off, and finally it seemed there was no escape. The Wizard and the Cleric would have to take on two guards, two dogs, and a very angry, very hurt brawny woman.

That’s when the Dwarven Cleric decided to sing.

Defy Danger + Cha, for the win.

He gained his freedom, but both of them ended up banned from the market for life.

Looking for feedback – This is my first DW starter.

I originally was going to use this for my offline game, but couldn’t find it when the time came, and ended up doing it all off-the-cuff.

For my offline game this Thursday, I wanted to have a map, so I made this. I started with the fractal map from: donjon.bin.sh/world, which I then blew up to roughly earth size, then I grabbed this continent (the smaller of them), and traced it using my tablet.

Next, I created the hex-grid which is 16 pixels to a size and roughly shows what a day’s travel would be. And finally, for the first adventure, I took a small segment of that and actually drew the map.

I’m trying to hold to the Dungeon World principle of leaving lots of blanks, so beyond the continent name (Illia), I haven’t filled anything in yet. It should be fun to see what this place becomes. 🙂

It seems like whenever I try to create an event, it automatically puts it into “Adventure” rather than ‘Hangouts”.

It seems like whenever I try to create an event, it automatically puts it into “Adventure” rather than ‘Hangouts”. So I’m trying it this way instead.

Pick-up game, next Tuesday @ 7pm Mountain.

Check it out!

I’m a newer GM to DW, but I’ve GM’d games in the past. I enjoy Dungeon World for the story telling opportunities and the ideas that can be created at the table.

I’d like to do a one-shot (at least at first) for Dungeon World. I’d prefer characters from the main book, though I’m willing to discuss others if I have a copy.

Also, I play for fun. I want to tell a good story and have a good time doing it. I expect that players want the same, and want everyone else at the table to have that as well.

Please feel free to hit me with any questions or feedback.

Wanna play?

I’m going to be doing a one shot on Saturday, 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern), via Google hangouts.

I’m going to be doing a one shot on Saturday, 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern), via Google hangouts. I’ve run DW only once before, but fun was had. Let me know if you’re interested in joining.

I’m thinking main book characters only, but am open to expansions if I can see/ask questions before hand. Level one characters.

I’m happy to answer any questions. 🙂

Thanks!
