The Ranger chose Savage and Frightening for her animal companion’s weaknesses, envisioning the companion is just as likely to attack her or the rest of the party as it is to protect her or do what she tells it. She’s asking what she should roll to see what the companion does under particularly stressful situations. Custom move, you think?

Newbie GM question: So the heroes have joined the good-guy army in battle vs. a bad-guy army. This game is my 1st time GMing – I’ve run a few combats but never a big battle! To complicate matters, the party has split: 3 PC’s (barbarian, immolator, arcane duelist) are with the main army engaging the enemy, while the other 3 (ranger, wizard, druid) have joined a small strike force to infiltrate the enemy position and destroy the evil summoning circle. All constructive tips & comments welcome! In particular, tips for maintaining a good flow/pace. 🙂 Thanks!

From the Fighter’s Heirloom move: “When you consult the spirits that reside within your signature weapon, they will give you an insight relating to the current situation, and might ask you some questions in return, roll+CHA.”

Let’s hear some creative questions the Spirits might ask.

My player wants to create a spell for his wizard that allows him to see through an animal’s eyes (much like the druid’s Eyes of the Tiger). I didnt want to shut him down but the party has both a druid and a ranger so I didn’t want him stealing their thunder. I told him he can attempt to develop this spell but it takes a lifetime to form the same kind of bond with nature that the others have. He said that rather than a nature-bond he’s envisioning a forced, limited mind-meld of sorts, with the possible unhappy side-effect of the target animal turning hostile on a failed roll. I think it’s interesting, and will let him learn it a few levels down the road. How would you construct a custom move for this spell?

If you’ve never tried PbP before, it’s a very different experience from face-to-face gaming, and one I highly recommend. If you’re a PbP veteran, I’ll say GamersPlane is a cut above similar sites because of the active & supportive members and admin.

We’re about to start a DW game. Hope to see you there! 🙂

Somebody PLEASE run a DW game at www.gamersplane.com! I know there are other PbP sites out there and one of them may in fact host DW games but GP is a good site with a very active dev. I’m just dying to see some DW there! Cheers!

What effect does being deafened have on a character? Bard’s Metal Hurlant deals 1d10 damage and deafens target. What does deafened mean other than the obvious? Can it hamper the deafened character’s spellcasting, for instance?
