Hey guys.

Hey guys.

Hey guys. We’ve all heard the tragic news about Google plus but I want to do one last Play By Post mini campaign here before the community shuts down. I can do either Dungeon World or World of Dungeons, (though I think World of Dungeons will be easier to run.). Comment with questions or if your interested.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen these around but I want to make one myself.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen these around but I want to make one myself. (Inspired by Beowulf, Boromir, and other last stand warriors)

When you’re hopelessly outnumbered or outgunned and want to sacrifice yourself heroically for a person/cause, you trigger this move…

Your attack damage equals max damage + level 2X (does not affect accuracy)

All damage is halved against you

If using ranged Ammo, you don’t run out

But after a number of attacks equal to your level +2 have passed, or all your enemy(ies) are slain, you collapse without last breath roll.

(Dramatic option let’s you roll 1d100 with a 1% chance of coming back to life or returning in dramatic way later)

This is a rough draft, any critique or similar moves are welcomed. Thanks. Also feel free to comment favorite last stands in movies or literature.

Since I love DW dice mechanic with multiple outcomes, but also like rolling d20s I created two tables that let you use a d20 for 2d6 rolls

1-6= failure/hard move

7-14= partial success

15-20= full success (19/20 are equivalent to 12+)

And for the 6 option fate die, I made this

1-3 No And

4-6 No

7-10 No but

11-14 Yes but

15-17 Yes

18-20 Yes and.

Enjoy and share your opinions on this idea.

I’m planning on making a play by post community on Google+ focused on short loosely connected campaigns.

I’m planning on making a play by post community on Google+ focused on short loosely connected campaigns. I think I’ll use the Mark Tygart one shots for inspiration. We’ll likely use the standard DW rules as is.

Comment if interested or have questions and I’ll keep you posted.

Roll +Con if you try to outdrink him

Roll +Str if you arm wrestle him

Roll +Dex if you play dice

Roll +Cha if you recite poetry

Roll +Int if you give him a riddle

Roll +Wis if you try to see through his trick.

On a 6- you pay a terrible price for your learning. You lose an eye/ear/voice(receive a suitable debility) but gain +1 forward once a session for the stat you rolled.

7-9 you may leave without boon or scar or take both. Lose eye/ear whatever and take boon (roll 3d6 for stat of choice and take higher two).

10-11 you take the boon and gain no scar

12+ you may take two boons for one scar

15 you may take two boons with no scar.

This is only a slightly refined rough and suggested improvements are much welcome.

This may seem obvious bit I’ve discovered dungeon world is great for challenging and exiting play at paragon level.

This may seem obvious bit I’ve discovered dungeon world is great for challenging and exiting play at paragon level. Here’s what I mean.

Most games, you go from Zero to hero then stop or retire. Sometimes death is only a hit or two away (see W.O.D. or old school dnd) or you have balanced encounters and everything is fair and proportional (third edition dnd or Pathfinder)

But DW basically let’s you be Gandalf. A powerful player who can kill 3 goblins with a flash, but can’t take on a whole army or dragon by himself.

I thought that the game should be less about treasure and more about the mission or story. Imagine if the party had to escort 14 incompetent NPC dwarves to a mountain, or guide a small kingdom in time of war, or investigate a widespread international religious or political crisis.

This I feel would give players challenging but immersive tasks which should test their skills, but also give the world depth and the story meaning.

Ok long post, but In my opinion, it’s good to have more to a campaign than just pointless aqquisition of wealth/weapons, especially at the higher levels. Characters should be connected to the world and have more attachments/establishments with time.

Thanks for reading!

Anyone ever had a problem with playing a cleric in a campaign or one shot without undead so your Turning abilities were useless? Few classes have such a specific ability or theme as the Cleric.

Thought this video would be interesting because even though it’s not virtual, Dungeon World does cater to Power Fantasy Gaming. I think it’s a good idea to have at least a little self examination of our character or their world, even in a one shot.
