I’ve finally sat down and tried to create my Campaign Fronts.  I don’t feel great about it, but it’s good to have something on paper.  It’s a starting point, I guess.  I’d love some feedback as to how to punch it up.  Like I said, it feels pretty weak.  Thanks.

DW game got cancelled last minute by host, but one player didn’t get the message. He showed up with a pot of homemade chili and waited outside for an hour. Not my house and not my fault but I run the game so I feel horribly guilty. Even though I apologized I’m not going to sleep well tonight. Damn.

I’m somewhat nervous about my third session of DW tomorrow.  The players have progressed beyond my initial set-up and I’m left with many fronts, but no clear direction.  This is the part of DW that has me the most nervous.  As a meticulous planner I feel powerless and directionless.  I’m not sure how to proceed with my fronts, or if I even should.  I have an initial scene that I will present to my players that arose naturally from our two previous sessions but, unlike those sessions that were very defined and restricted (escaping a prison-dungeon), this session is wide open.  I’m powerless to predict what they might do and where they might go.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can prepare and keep my narrative on a somewhat predictable path?

I’ve been reading a little bit about Burning Wheel, but really know nothing about the system.  I have been able to determine that it is rather crunchy, rules-wise, and that players either love it or hate it.  Does anyone have any experience with it and can compare/contrast it with Dungeon World?  Thanks.

Would anyone object to me posting my game notes from my second session and helping me create some fronts?

Would anyone object to me posting my game notes from my second session and helping me create some fronts?  I’m still unsure as to how to go about that.  I’d like to set the game up for as many future sessions as I can.  Thanks.

When I was running a D&D campaign, I used to have trouble scheduling games.  We’d play once a month if we were lucky.  After two sessions of DW, the players are spamming me with requests to play.  I love it!

I understand that the character creation process as it is, is designed to be fun and is part of the DW experience, but has anyone ever broken the game down to components blocks that would allow more variety in character creation?  For example, broken out the races to allow more variety?  Is that even possible or advisable?

After my game today one of my players mentioned that he felt like we were playjng D&D Madlibs. I couldn’t disagree.

I have a question about Jacob Randolph’s Mage class.

I have a question about Jacob Randolph’s Mage class.  It’s very cool and I have a player who wants to switch to the Mage, but I have no idea how a Mage deals damage using magic.  The Black Magic move does 1d8, but otherwise spellcasting specifically states that magic may not be used to inflict direct damage.  How does this square with such Elemental Foci as The Dragon which features Burn with Fire and Passion and Reckless Destruction?  How do you adjudicate damage?  Thanks.
