Need to improve improv skills

Combat is deadlier than I thought

Hard moves are tough to come up with in your first session…

Leaving a year between gaming sessions may not have been the best preparation…..

I’ve been thinking how to do duels without it ‘just’ being H&S and defy danger.

I’ve been thinking how to do duels without it ‘just’ being H&S and defy danger.  These would be for formal gauntlet thrown down, seconds in attendance type affairs.  The basic jist is you roll and add your level and take away points depending on how much additional damage you are trying to do (or using tags / causing debility).  The base damage is the normal for your class then you can add more on top  (mages and clerics can choose their damaging spell of choice and then add extra)

Duelling

Roll + level

10+ inflict effect without taking effect

7-9  Inflict and receive full damage OR

Inflict half damage & either Debility / Tag and receive full damage

OR Inflict & receive 1/2 damage

6-

Take full damage inflict half

Take half damage and Tag / Debility inlfict half damage

Take tag and debility inflict half damage

take half damage

Damage base + free

D6            -1

B(2D6)    -2

D8            -3

B(2D8)    -4

D10         -5

B(2D10)  -6

D12          -7

B(2D12)  -8

Debility   -3 per

Apply tag to strike -4 per

There are two new stats

Blood – which is used to fuel blood powers

Fame – this is included as I want to use a version of Lo5R / SS mass combat system rather than kludging through the TSR system, also can be used in Parley as leverage.  It can just be removed if not desired.

Reputation:

Reputation:

Can be used as leverage in Parley and a modifier to outstanding warrants.

Normally tied to Battles or Duels.

A player can choose to forfeit a sessions XP in return for adding 1 to reputation – this must be in a session where the character took part in some great event  which is widely known to the public and where they would have earned as least three XP.

(I am converting the Lo5R mass battle system and introducing duelling as well so needed some way have a wider mechanic to tie into.

I’ve been having a random thought on dueling – as in a formal combat rather than general hank and slash.

I’ve been having a random thought on dueling – as in a formal combat rather than general hank and slash.  (Warning very heavily inspired by LO5R)

Challenged chooses to start or not.

first character chooses a difficulty up to 5

Second character can either raise by up to 5 or allow the first character to roll.

This continues until one of the characters allows the other roll.

Roll 2d6+ level if higher than the difficulty then a hit is made and damage is normal character level + difficulty.

If the character misses the other character then rolls against their highest bid, if successful the damage would be normal base  + difficulty.

If both fail then they both inflict their normal basic class damage (no modifiers, ignore armour).

At this point the one hit can choose to offer an apology, surrender etc otherwise they will reset for another round.  If both fail it will take both to agree to reset for another round

This of course will lead to a compendium class that will specialise in dueling…..

I am slowly converting birthright over to DW.

In Birthright you have a region of, like a zoom out from a steading.

I am thinking up bonds and have things like

need

blight

oath

land belong to a neighbour

history of marriages

but have hit a bit of a blockage for more, so I am turning here for inspiration (or just downright lifting)
