I started with graph paper (boxes). Now I’m thinking of blank 8.5 x 11.
I printed out a blank map from Mad Vadel’s Map Pack, no hexes or terrain features other than coastlines.
After my players added some regions and ruins, I pointed to the closest ruin and asked how long it would take to walk there. They said a day and a half. Then I just used that to approximate distances to other points of interest.
So, I like that idea a lot Chris Wolf, but what kind of paper? I feel like 8 1/2 by 11 is just too small!
