Death’s Door

When you are dying, you catch a glimpse of the Black Gates and the Lady of Crows beyond (the GM will describe it). Then roll +nothing: on a 10+, the Lady waves you off–you’re no longer dying, but you’re still in a bad place; on a 7-9, choose 1:

○ Your time has come, but you can make one last move as if you rolled a 12+ (make it count)

○ Wrest yourself back to the realm of the living–return to 1 HP, but tell us how your brush with death has marked you (everyone must agree that it makes sense)

On a 6-, your time has come. Choose 1:

○ Step willingly through the Black Gates.

○ Refuse to go; gain the Revenant or Ghost insert (your choice)

○ Beseech the Things Below to intercede; gain the Thrall insert

  2. That’s extremely cool. Easier to run than the vanilla Dungeon World “Death makes a bargain with you”, too 🙂

    Typo: the Bodysnatcher consequence is missing a “you” in the 7-9 result of trying to force your host to do something. I think it should say “they resist that action and you will never be able to force them to do it”.

  9. Fantasic work, Do i detect a little Wraith The Oblivion influince here? really awsome, though I am confused if the Revenent still has a phisical body or only when posessing someone.

  10. Lachiel Vaher never played or really read Wraith, but I’m sure there’s a lot of shared background.

    The Bodysnatcher move is for the Ghost, not the Wraith Revenant. The document is for 2-sided printing & cutting in half, meaning the left side of the 2nd page goes with the right side of the 1st page (and vice versa). The skull/ghost icons are meant to help them align.

    Stonetop playbooks are fold-over booklets, which is why these are called “Inserts” instead of “compendium classes”.
