I’m going to be running a Dungeon World one-shot (or maybe two sessions if I’m lucky) for some family members over the Xmas/new year period. I was thinking at first that I’d just re-run an abridged version of Death Frost Doom, but on reflection that might be too grim for the occasion. I may just use a dungeon starter or come up with something original, but does anyone have any suggestions for good one-shot scenarios with a more adventure or swashbuckling tone?

  1. Do what I did last Christmas and have them get transported to Santa’s village! They went on a quest for Santa to get the Pole of the North back from the Krampus. They fought some zombie snowmen that were summoned when the Pole was stolen. They found out from Mrs. Claus (Santa’s elven wife) that Santa had actually been ensorcelled to look like the Krampus and that the Santa they were on the quest for was actually the Krampus in disguise. They rode reindeer back to the village and had a fight with Krampus and Rudolph, the half-dragon reindeer. My wife (the druid) shapeshifted into a giant Christmas tree Ent, with ornament ball bombs and a treetop star that shot a laser beam and had a kaiju battle with Rudolph while the others fought Krampus. Then at the end, the real Santa thanked them and sent them back to their camp and they felt like everything was just a dream. It was kind of out there, but it was really fun. Oh, and the “cookies” the fake Santa gave them may have been reindeer meat…. or children. Who knows?!
