Any guess what movie I saw this weekend?

Any guess what movie I saw this weekend?

I couldn’t resist the Dungeon Starter transmogrification.

Like Joe Banner I’m still processing all the Dungeon World adventure feedback, which was excellent. While I hope to vary my production slate someday, I will always love this particular monster (All hail Marshall Miller!). Feedback, war stories, movie reviews are as always very welcome.

  1. Neat idea, but I feel like the only way to properly get the vibe would be to ask every player “Who are you here to kill?” and shuffle around the answers.

A Fiasco setup might be a good one to look to inspiration for.

  2. Derek Guder It may be beyond the scope of a starter to do it justice, but I like to push the envelope. Your idea would work well as a one shot, or maybe if the players were the bounty hunters. I liked the idea of a party just wandering into the Hateful Eight movie in a way.

  3. Sure, but just wandering into the movie wouldn’t quite do it justice, I don’t think. The real appeal & power lies in all the threads connecting the characters, so my suggestion would be to dig those into the PCs, as much as possible.

If you liked the setting or characters, though, I say just steal ’em. There is a lot of memorable pieces there to mine for an RPG.

  4. Derek Guder That is beyond the scope of a dungeon starter which is there to present the pieces to be assembled by the GM for his group as suits the dungeon world they have created together. A one shot where each player plays has a different role and has a different goal (bandit, bounty hunter, prisoner, doppelganger, pickpocket) could be created for “tournament” play. They could face the yeti and the bridge together only to kill each other in the third act at the tavern. Thief, Barbarian, Fighter, Ranger and a new Doppelganger class maybe? Or the doppelganger to be any player? Unsure of the mechanics but could be fun…
