Why are there no even-leveled (2, 4, 6, etc) spells in the spell books?

Why are there no even-leveled (2, 4, 6, etc) spells in the spell books?

I know it seems kind of silly phrased that way, but what I’m looking for is a sort of official, or at least concise, answer.  I’ve gotten the question from a group of people I’m going to be playing with, and while I get that it has to do with spell memorization and moves like prodigy I (obviously) can’t come up with the words to explain it quickly and simply.

  1. Tradition?  In D&D casters get a new spell rank every second character level (more or less), and so DW does it the same way.  Except that what in D&D would be a second-level spell (that you learn when you reach magic-user level 3) is just called a third-level spell so you can write sentences like these without having to keep saying which kind of levels you mean all the time.

  2. Some time ago, on Barf Forth Apocalyptica, Sage told me to MAKE even level spells if i’d like to. Condier it a sort of blank space, as per the principles.

I’ve made up the classics: web, firewall, ices torm, etc.

  3. My thoughts:

If you are a first level wizard, you could obtain a third level spell. But still you won’t be able to use it, because Prepare Spells: “Prepare new spells choses from your spell book whose total level don’t exceed your own level +1”

So as a first level wizard you could learn 1 level 2 spell, but not a level 3 spell. If you are a level 2 level wizard the level 3 spells suddenly open up to you.

So it’s a gaming mechanism to force the use of your first level spells.
