Hey guys, its been a few months since I posted the original draft, but here is my kobold racial class. Tell me what sucks about it, or what’s good about it.  I think its nearing a completed state.

  1. I haven’t looked at the advanced moves yet but so far, so good. I prefer alignment moves to drive moves but that probably just a personal preference and not a real problem. 7 + constitution hp seems high for a kobold as does 9 + Str load. You don’t define what a bundle of dynamite does, but giving it 3 ammo seems high, maybe make it no ammo, I can imagine a PC using that to open every fight (and door) if he has multiple shots with it.

  2. Yeah I think I’ll settle on 6+con for health and that’s a good point about the dynamite. But I think like 8 or so for the carry weight fits with the whole scavenger/hoarder aspect

  3. I hadn’t considered the idea of a player putting their 8 into Str, good call, but since suboptimal choices are fun you might get a PC with their 16 in Str for a load of 11.

  4. I love that first move (jury rig). I can only imagine the fun that both player and DM can have with that! **wrings evil DM hands**

Your second 2 moves feel limited. You have to wait for a NPC to trigger move 2.

Also, move 3 depends heavily on the DM instead of you actually calling the move as the player.

  5. Jon, thanks for the criticism, the second move is based off the half long racial class move. Kind of supposed to show kobolds making the best of a bad situation. Not sure how I could improve it but I’ll do some thinking. And about the third point, I’m not sure I get what you are saying. Do you mean Kobold lore should be decided by the dm?

  6. Am I reading Street Fighter right? It sounds like you want it to only trigger when you roll a 10+ on Hack N Slash and choose to expose yourself to danger, but if that’s the case it could be clearer. I’m a big fan of the dirty fighting style, though!

You might consider making the options slightly less specific as to HOW the character blinds/slows/taunts/etc their opponent, because my first thought when reading that move was “pocket sand!”

  7. Shadi– I LOVE LOVE LOVE move 2 as a racial bonus. I just wasn’t sure how it’s a move that the player makes.

In other words, what happens if none of the monsters underestimate the kobold?
