Rereading my translation of GM moves and I still have a problem with:
“Put someone in a spot”
Do you mean:
– force someone into a situation in which they must make a difficult decision or answer a difficult question, like “Put someone on the spot” ?
or
– focus the attention on someone and expose him/her ?
Yes!
I think you have to include facing a difficult decision. Without that, they’re not in a spot, even if they’re exposed.
I would go for the second since there is the Move Put someone in harm’s way to put a character in danger…

You could just say it means put someone in a difficult situation.
It seems a little restrictive to me, but yeah, I’ll probably go on with this one. Merci Eric.
the first option is definitely how it reads in the book.
you could rephrase it to “give them a tough decision to make”
I always read it as a reference to this scene: Damn! We’re in a tight spot!
