Having the Princess and the Paladin in the same group. They each can ‘lay on hands’, which on a 10+ heals, but on a 7+ transfers damage. The player playing the Paladin says ‘We can just keep doing it until we roll a 10+ and the damage goes away’. But a 6- causes something bad to happen. So I invented a new move. What do you think?
Circular Lay on Hands (Princess and the Paladin healing each other over and over). Done when camped.
10+ You heal everyone.
7-9 You and the Paladin heal everyone, but the Princess and the Paladin are tired. -1 forward in the next scene.
6- Either the healing was interrupted by some evil GM plot, or the Princess and the Paladin had a spat and can’t bear to touch each other. A GM determined amount of healing was done.
This is amazing, except for one point
“or the Princess and the Paladin had a spat and can’t bear to touch each other.”
You really shouldn’t decide the PCs actions so directly. Maybe you can ask a question like “So Princess, what is it about the Paladin that makes the thought of touching him utterly repulsive?”
Personally I would answer dire skunks.
This is genius! Though I agree with Hannah, ask a question instead of deciding the PCs’ actions for them. Otherwise you’re stepping on toes.
I agree that it is a nice move, again with the exception of the 6- result. A 6- should mean a DM move occurs. I wouldn’t want to limit it to that single result when the DM moves open up so much more fun 🙂
Please tell me that the princess’ father has promised her hand in marriage to some ugly foreigner. Or that the paladin has sworn an oath of chastity, and cannot marry until his holy duties are complete. Or both.
All this laying-on-of-hands is too good an opportunity to pass up.
