Quick question; if a fighter wields a Close signature weapon, and wields a longsword in his other hand, does he get the +1 damage bonus from the longsword?

Good question.
I’d say you only can use one weapon bonus…
Well, I think it sort of makes sense in the fiction, if you hack around with your blades, then the longsword is at least doing something?
Also, dual wielding longswords is a fantasy stable 🙂Â
Yes. You can dual wield long swords and attack more enemies at once. That is something
It also gives an alternative to choosing a shield?
Besides, dealing +1 damage for 2 weight is actually pretty much a cost to anyone, even the mighty fighter. 12 + STR?
OK, assume +2 STR, then he spends 7 weight on his two weapons and scale armor. If he wants a bow, then 3 more, and a pack of rations; 1 more. Now he only have room for 3 weight of swag. Unless he throws away stuff.
Don’t forget, having a sword and dagger is cool too, then you have the hand tag to work with as needed, even if you can’t gain extra damage.
Richard Robertson I’d been thinking about that a lot as well! 🙂
When your signature weapon is 2 swords you would get the full bonus when using 1 or 2 right?
Well, it isn’t supported by the move to have more than one signature weapon.
But what if the fighter wanted to be a samurai? I’d let the sig weapon be the katana and wakizashi
My thoughts exactly. Or a Halfling knife fighter
Like Belkar! Yeah! And then they could use the Multiclass Dabbler to take Viper Strike from the Ranger.
So, in that case, do you divide your bonus weapon tags between the two weapons?
I was wondering that. Perhaps one per blade, or the bonuses are only when you use them in convert. That way if one blade gets shattered, they have to go on a quest for another half of the daisho
Richard Robertson As long as there isn’t an option to make the Sig two-handed, then I think this approach is just gimping the character unnecessarily, but the individual could find a compromise that made it doable and fun 🙂
Maybe getting an additional option from the list by accepting the Two-handed tag?
If the group you are playing with is cool with that, why not just make it so?
Richard Robertson Exactly 🙂 It’s just that I wouldn’t advise people to gimp their characters just to conform to some image of their character. If I was a GM, that’d be the compromise I’d suggest. I wouldn’t say no, just ask what they wanted from dual-wielding.
You are after all saying no to a +1 Armor bonus from shields.
Do all fighters try and scam extra damage?
Of course, first year at fighter college you learn that stuff
