heh, nice one! But he did transform himself in a bat, didn’t he? Because that move makes you transform even on a fail
Yes, of course, but a little too late to avoid the ground XD
“oh look there’s a bat on the floor!”
“naah, bats fly, that one’s a mouse. Also, a hurt one. Don’t look at it, it’s so sad…”
I am not a Drood, +Magi max, thank you very much.
And I still “landed” squarely on that cliff, albeit flat faced and a bit bruised, while escaping that bloody thug.
And I was not falling, I was bravely throwing myself (under my human guise) at that assassin to have us both trip over the edge of the cliff, just as he was about to crush our thief’s knuckles while our not so cunning sleuth was dangling from that bridge.
That was pretty heroic from Leeloominai’s (my druid) part, considering she had only 4 HPs left at the time.
Unfortunately, that didn’t saved the thief from dropping 20 feet down and drawing his last breath, only to roll an 11, the lucky bastard.
All in all, it was a prety successful evening. Nobody died and we got to save the villagers, at least for now.
I like that the Shapeshift gives Hold 1 on a miss. In a game I ran once, a player turned himself into a mouse, so he could sneak around an orc camp while avoiding detection.
The player later asked me, what would have happened if he rolled a miss. I promptly said: “You would’ve been attacked by a cat.”
I love the “a miss is not a failure(!)” paradigm, it has kickass story potential 🙂
It’s not really a miss but the GM can add something (anything in fact)!
During another fight, Philip’s druid, in his snake form, attacked a goblin and also rolled 6-. After he made his move, he kept crawling a few minutes on the floor in human form, still “thinking” as a snake. It was pretty fun !
I had a druid roll a 2 on a transformation into a “ram” while surrounded by zombies.
I told him he transformed into a lamb and he had the move “bleat helplessly”
He still successfully aided another player by ramming a zombie in the legs.
“It was pretty fun !” says the sadistic Game Master …
Why did I sign up for his bl***y campaign 🙁
Wait til’ I shapechange from a diving hawk into a large boulder.
I’m sure I’ll end up landing on a marble floor instead of the softness of my intended target’s crushed bones …
