I had an 11th-hour brainwave with the content of this adventure, re-writing it from a fairly light-hearted romp with a bungling caliph to something much darker, with the dungeon populated with monsters born out of young princes’ anxieties.

If that sounds like the sort of adventure that’d appeal to you, good! You can do me a favour and give this a read – I wanted to get this out before February, but didn’t have as much time as I’d like to playtest. Feedback, as always, welcome!

Men, elves & dwarves tread carefully.

For a giant, woke from sleep

Will surely mean the end of thee!

I’ve put a new adventure up for sale! It’s called Jakabol, and it’s all about a giant’s tomb filled with undead and giant moles and pirates in rivers and all kinds of craziness.

This weekend’s the time to grab it, as a) everything’s 10% off in my store til the end of Monday and b) if you’re a patron of mine, (patreon.com/jbinc) you’ll find a sneaky-sneak discount code in the latest posts at the end of today!

To anyone interested in 2-player games, quick games, and/or Funnel World: Amy Stringer and I played a 2-hour game last night together using 3 randomly-rolled villagers and it worked really well.

If we did it again, I’d suggest rolling 5-6 villagers as she didn’t last too long with 3 (we rolled a 4th after the first one died.) But the system of making villagers was really effective, and controlling multiple characters really wasn’t difficult.

From a GM’s perspective you don’t have to do anything much more than you’d do in a regular game – just be sure the players is prepared for a lot of grisly deaths!

Right, it’s been a while, but I’ve put all of October’s releases from Patreon together in one big hit for everyone.

Hi all!

Hi all!

Hi all! Two quick things: my September Dungeon World releases (through Patreon) are now online for everyone at http://joebanner.co.uk/2014/09/ – there’s a decidedly nautical theme this month.

I’m also planning a series of games in October – Matt Balara Alexander Gräfe Christopher Patterson Christian Medway and I had our first one in October. Places are pretty much booked up already I’m afraid, but you can check out the first part of last night’s game here: Dungeon World (October 8th)

Enjoy!

Here’s the latest adventure as promised, Fluxington’s Folly! I’m pleased with how this bad boy came out. Let me know how you all find it, though!

I did it, mom! 3 adventures finished in one week! Fluxington’s Folly has gone out a week in advance to my Patreon pledgers, and will go on my site to everyone else next weekend.

I’m taking this one with me on holiday and might use it to introduce a few people to RPGs. Just to give you all a taste, here’s the special prologue I’ve written to sucker them in. What do you think?

(The full PDF is available through my Patreon page, patreon.com/jbinc.)

So this is what I’d call a ‘perilous journey’ in the context of DW.

So this is what I’d call a ‘perilous journey’ in the context of DW. (I’d use adventuring gear in place of rations though… apparently the ape in the bottom-left didn’t have any rope left…!)

This probably also reflects my style of play – I rarely use traps. I’d rather do a perilous journey which covers the players dealing with traps indirectly, then move on to a scene with more action or drama.

What scenes in movies, TV, comics etc. do you guys think of, and how does that reflect your use (or not) of the perilous journey move?
